They tried the same with me a year ago. Almost fell for it. They wanted gift cards as payment. Every time I blocked them they would call on another number. This must be their latest number. Beware
i just got a call from a janet dcruze who had a very thick indian accent. she said she is with windows trouble shooting department customer license security. she said my computer has a trojan virus and i said how did i get it and i asked for her number and she saID 18001021100 EXT 377 BUT see from my caller id that the call is from 985-624-1525 Mandeville LA. i asked her how do i know if she is real? she gave an id #. i asked her where she is calling from and she said from london and she hung up
Got a call from a blocked number several times. I answered them a couple times and it was the same guy, same scam everyone else is describing. Second time he called I said “I don’t even have a Windows computer, I have a MacBook” and the next time he called he claimed to be with “Apple Support”. Sad to see this guy or group of guys getting away with this so often.
This "Windows Support" outfit has been calling me weekly for more than a year! Being older and not very computer savvy I let them into my computer for a small fee ($158.00) which, being retired, was not something I could really afford but they kept stressing my computer was in serious jeopardy and could crash any moment. After their access to my computer I had all sorts of virus' and all my programs ran slowly. I told my daughter what had happened and she had to set my computer back to factory default to get them out of there. About a month after the computer was cleared "Windows Support" called again and stated federal law was requiring they refund my money. They wanted access again. I told them to send me a check they should have my address, which of course, they never did. They still call me a least weekly. I now tell them I don't own a computer and hang up but the call s are still disruptive and annoying. Anyone have suggestions on how to get these frauds out of my life??
found this number on my missed call list in my cell. Didn't call back as I nevercall numbers I don't know, and I figured it was some idiot scammer. Thanks tothis site, I know for sure. The call came Oct. 4. from 800-102-1100
Hilarious that this clearly scummy windows "help" line calls me considering i use only Apple products. Even funnier is that I am a technician and spend all day fixing customer's machines which they have probably let these exact scammers into. I have seen a huge rise in issues like this coming across my desk and can only assume that due to the ease of use computers are now more than ever being used by the less informed population that would fall for this.I never answer calls like this because they will then mark my number as live and callable (trust me I know someone who unfortunately works in a call center like this). I do call back every time. If someone answers, ask to be removed from their list. I have made sure many times that my number is on the do not call list. Usually after mentioning the do-not-call list they will hang up on you since it's against the law for them to be contacting you. Especially if the number is a dead end when you call back make sure to report them on the do-not-call list website (donotcall.gov)short answer: don't fall for it. and report the number to the do not call list website so action can be taken.
Just receive a call from stating they where from MICRO SOFT, stated they have seen a problemwith my computer, and if I let them on whey will fix it. Hard to understand this person, named he gaveEdward, 2 phone numbers he gave me 1-888-406-4335, 1-800-102-1100, would not connect. I wasnot very nice told this person to go f--- him self.
Just received a call from a person representing Microsoft. He used the same 800 number. Caller ID should up as California. He said he needed to get on my computer because it was being hacked. Since, I wouldn't power up my machine he said they would block windows on my computer.
I got a call from this number at 6:00 am. That is a weird time for a telemarketing call. The caller ID should up as a California number. The man said his name was David Jackman from Windows. I asked him who he worked for he said windows. I asked for his supervisors name, And his employee ID. He got angry and said I am calling you to repair windows. Someone is hacking into your system. I must fix it. Please get onto your computer. I said no. I will have it checked into by my computer guy. He said he would hang up and block Windows on my machine.
