My experience with Mike Banning, (Indian accent?), calling from Oregon representing a tech troubleshooting company regarding MS OS problems was similar to the other's experience in this forum. Geez, and I thought I was special. Caller ID was 800-102-1100, calling 24-Oct-17, around 1535 CDT. Caller gave the return ph number of 800-713-1270. He told me he was following up on a 2-Jul-17, call to me regarding compromised software. He said they were receiving some error signals from my computer, but he could not tell me which computer. Oddly, he did not know the OS version I had and more odd, my phone records did not show any calls from on that or any nearby days. Oink! "Mike" then wanted me to type some commands giving him control of my computer. Bye bye.
Got call saying my computer was being hacked in to. Wanted me to enter 'rescue mode' and got irrate when I refused. Kept him going for about 8 minutes before saying I believed this was a scam and hoped wasting his time might deter him from calling again. I'll let you know if this works.
They wont stop believe me. They use different numbers and sometimes i answer just to confront them and they usually end up hanging up on me. So i call keep calling them back just to harass them and they hang up on me again. Then when i call them back 2 to 3 times i get a message saying the number is not in service! I get sooo frustrated because I cant even harass the harassers!
Same info as others. Could not answer basic computer tech questions. Said his name was Jack Wilson but voice was middle eastern. Lot of noise in back ground like the boiler rooms of later. Told him I would call back, but guess he will be waiting a long time.
I have already commented a out this and have replied to other people’s comments. These people must be stopped! There doesnt seem to be anyway to do that except To keep calling them back to harass them. And that doesnt even work because they hang up on me and when i call them back again, i get a message saying the number is not in service! They must be stopped and I am horrified that they continue to be allowed to do this. They say they are from microsoft or a computer tech agency and then try to get you to let them onto your computer. It happened to me and I let them log onto to my computer. Big mistake, Now my entire identity is in their hands, including paswords, bank accounts, credit cards...everything!
Received 4 calls from men with heavy accents. Today I received a call from one who said he is from Microsoft Windows Tech Support. I asked his name and he said his name was Jacob in New York and wanted to know why I was asking.
Unfortunately i fell for it and inlet someone named “Victor” log on to my computer. Now they have all my info frim passwords to bank accounts and my social security number. I have repoted them to agencies (cant remember which ones) and have even called them back. They are unstoppable and don't appear to have any fear of being caught. I still get calls from them and when i tell them i have reported them they simply hang up. And when i call them back again i get a message that the number is not in service. god knows what they are doing with all the information they got from my computer.
My mother-in-law, who does not even own a computer, received the same call as everyone else, stating the same thing. He called back three times. Isn't this harassment? I told him he is lying and the Bible states all liars will have their place in the lake of fire. Buy did that get him going! He denied lying and gave me the name "John Evans", which he could not even pronounce! He also gave me the phony 800-102-1100 number.Does anyone have a better plan to stop these calls?
Thank you for the links. Unfortunately i fell for the scam and let someone named Victor log on to my computer to fix all the bugd. Now they have everything on me. My SS # my bank accounts, my passwords , creit cards, i have reported them but not sure which agencies. And even though i have reported them and have told them that i have ( reported them) they continue to all me. Using different phone numbers and names. They dont appear to have any fear of being caught or the consequences they are facing. I am not sure any agency will be abke to track them down, i believe this is a scam that cant be tracked down. They have heavy foreign accents, and have a system in place that is cannot be traced. The phone numbers change, and cant be accessed if you cll them back as i have, i get a message tharpt the number is not in servivpce. It appears to me that they are always on the move, and they know that no one can stop them. Not even our own gov agencies because again, this appears to be a scam from possibly multiple countries fom outside the USA.
