Scanning the remarks on some of these pages prompts me to recommend actually reporting them to the government, both to the www.fcc.gov and the www.ftc.gov web addresses. The FCC collects the complaints registered at their site and when the volume of complaints reach a reasonable size, they attempt to trace the calls back to the originator (even acknowledging they might need to trace to a foreign location, a difficult but not impossible task). The FTC will support these investigations and will issue summons to court trials (largely ignored by those charged) and THEN will issue complaints to the host country officials, requesting extradition for trial. A long process, sometimes very effective. The results may not be as effective as we wish, but at least reporting them to the government, doing more than citing them on this web forum is establishing the complaint where it just might address and solve some of the harassment we endure. "Some" is better than "None."
Jimmy with a thick foreign accent is at it again. He said he was given this number by "Windows Technical Dept" saying it was for Microsoft Customer Care/Services. He phoned me to say my computer was sending them error msgs saying that hackers were trying to access my computer. He gave his name as Jimmy. I asked Jimmy where he was calling from, he said Los Angeles CA and he said he was employed by Microsoft. He refused to give me his address. I asked for a number in case we were disconnected. He gave me 800 102 1100. He then yelled at me to switch on the computer. I called him out on the yelling etc, then he hung up on me. I WON JIMMY BOY!!!!!
Got several call via Skype from India telling me that they are Microsoft tech department and that my computer was hacked and the need to fix it. I asked them how they know this and they said was the Microsoft company monitors my PC and tell the techs to fix it. So I told Michael to fix it and he said I have to open up my computer and let him establish a link. I asked him my location and he said GA. I am nowhere close to GA. I asked him about my IP address and he said he does not know that but if I let him in he will fix my computer. I asked him for call back no. In US and he gave me 1800 102 1100. I asked him his location and why he is using Skype. He. Said it was the company policy to call via Skype. On that not I hung up, but he called 6 times over 3 day period
I received a call from someone purported to be from Microsoft telling me that my computer is being used by some other person. Unfortunately I allowed him access to my computer until he wanted me to purchase a security package for about £400, which I declined. My wife does internet banking and has promptly contacted her bank and got her details changed. Fortunately I did not give him my bank details. I have also performed a full system scan to make sure my computer is protected, which it is. I guess I have been a bit stupid, which my wife reckons I have. I will be more careful next time.
Exactly same thing happened, but the guy said he is from Bestbuy Geak service for window 10 users
Got a call from guy (very heavy accent) with 3 digit phone numbers ... not actual numbers ... I questioned the authenticity of the calls from the get go ... but he was very convincing. I finally asked how he could prove that he was from "Microsoft Support" and he gave me this number. I then hung up on him. I googled the number and found this sight. Glad I did.
I just received a call from this number as well mentioning he was from the Windows Security Department and when he offered to "help" me with seeing why the 'errors' were happening, I told him "Thank you for letting me know, I will inform our IT guy" then he just started cursing at me lol wow hung up right away
