A lot of times, they're only calling references because they've been having trouble getting in touch with the person who took out the loan, be it phone number or address (a lot of people forget to update address information with their debtors). So they probably have sent mail, but it went to an old address, but got returned. So don't F**k 'em, get in touch and try to figure it out. If the phone rep is being a dick, and they do have some mongoloids working the phones who don't deal with confrontation well, ask for a supervisor. They have alternate ways to confirm your identity which doesn't involve your full SSN.
*Sigh*What AREN'T they getting here? They already received my payment for June and this month (already scheduled) isn't even due yet. They already have received all payments up to the last. All automatically paid and the Department of Education DID receive all of them!!!Up until late 2010 or Early last year Discover handled everything and then it was handled by Great Lakes. And now this mess. Been paid all along and yet this nonsense! And judging by all the complaints here it's a real mess!!!Last time Caller ID just said "TOLL FREE CALL" now "GREAT LAKES LOAN CO".For Great Lakes, fix your damn accounting/billing problems already and stop annoying us!!!Once more, all my payments are current and up to date so there's no reason for them to call me at all. I already went to their site and notified them that way! Apparently they don't listen well!!!
I have been receiveing these calls from 2 different numbers, 800-715-2523 and 800-236-4300 no messages left. I have you mail telling them my number is disconnected and I just got this number 2 weeks ago so no clue how they got it. The last number shows the name Alex Lorenzo. Really aggravating Thats is probably why who ever had this number before changed it now I get their calls.
Some people say that the caller is Great Lakes. If they want to reach me, they should darn well WRITE to me. Anybody can call and say they are from some legitimate company-- DO NOT give anyone any personal information over the phone. The real company will send you information via U.S. Mail.
Number comes up as Alex Lorenzo. If they are legit they must have serious accounting issues as my loans are current. Also they are calling on a business# which was never given to them.
Great lakes is actually a federal student loan company, ur friend would have student loans with them, ur def not doing ur friend a favor, cuz theyll garnish wages and intercept tax returns. Im sure ur friend will appreciate ur kindness tho. More like jokes on you.
Depending upon the state you live in, messages are unable to be left, as it is regarding personal info. Maybe next time answer your phone, or call back
