Keep an eye on your credit report. You can run one from each credit reporting agency per year and for 30 days afterward you have free access to monitor your credit. As a rule I space then out, 1 every 4 months so I can catch any errors asap. If a student loan is actually reported on your credit, you will be able to fight it. Hope it goes well.
I do not nor never had a student loan buy these people keep calling hassling me. Called to get my number removed and they got nasty ........................ If you are a student find someone else to deal with your future not these fools that can even get the right phone number ............ Or give them an iq test to see how competent they are they may reach the iq of a refrigerator ( sub zero )
I have student loans through great lakes and I am not late or past due on my payment. I received a call from 800-236-4000 stating there were great lakes. I called the number on my great lakes bill and they said they did not call me .
I make my payments every month and, while some months my payment's smaller than it needs to be which I notify them when I have to do that, I have never missed a single month's payments. So why they're calling me I do not know. I do know I've gotten dozens of calls saying the loan "May be eligible for loan forgiveness", but I already looked that up. It is NOT. I make too much.

This Is NOT Wells Fargo! It does seem legit, but it is NOT. I called Wells Fargo & they said no one called me. ALWAYS call the # on the back of your credit card no matter what company it is.
