It was Comcast telling me about the hurricane coming our way and to watch out for power lines that come down. They called one time and left a message right away. No complaints from me.
It is a Comcast number; they just called and left a message about how they're tracking Hurricane Sandy. But as always people, if you don't know a number and its a weird area code (to you) or an 800/866 than just don't answer.
This really is Comcast (1-800-Comcast). My call was a robo call ahead of Hurricane Sandy stressing for people to avoid downed lines and advising ways to get in touch with Comcast via mobile devices in case of service interuption. That was it - nothing more.
This number calls frequently and never leaves a message and I don't intend on answering it.... ever. I have a cell # so I don't have to deal with unwanted calls. This form of marketing is from a bygone era. I don't buy unless I initiate the sale - get it!
I think that some of the calls are due to scammers spoofing the Comcast number, because I keep getting hangups at suspicious times supposedly from Comcast numbers -- but if it were really Comcast, have you ever known them to hang up without leaving a robo-message? I don't. So mine (and maybe some of yours) are fake.

It really is ComCast installation. I called them for an install earlier today. Several hours later I got a call from 800-266-2278 which I didn't answer. Then immediately after that, the ComCast installer called from the local number I had called earlier - because I hadn't answered the other number.
Like x10.Yes, I just got a call from this number, and my call was legitimately from Comcast about an issue I was trying to resolve. However:1. As Slim pointed out, scammers often spoof real numbers to peddle their nefarious wares. Just be cautious when dealing with calls from numbers like this.2. This number is a robo dialer. Silence or dropped calls are not uncommon. Annoying, yes, especially if they have the wrong number to begin with. Your best bet is to call Comcast directly to sort the issue.
