I was at my computer when my Home Phone and my cell phone both rang at almost the same instant. This number showed on both caller IDs. I could have put one phone on each ear but I didn't. I later found out one of my grand kids wanted to get bailed out from jail--probably what the calls were about.--I never immediately answer Toll free numbers but call back after I first check who they are. Tired in Texas.
Yeah this is a scam call... I don't have any relatives or friends in a county jail! The cons call from this number and a 727-900-3724 number. I've had the same number for 3 years. And for the idiot that is trying too hard to persuade people in this thread that this is not a scam... You obviously must be affiliated with the scam or into some fraudulent sh!+ as well. My advice is to block this number and report it to the ftc or attorney general's office in our state and your cell phone provider or home phone provider asap!!!!
The same as above... As I don't take call from inmates, the [***] stopped there... But thank you... I enter the number and I got it loud and clear. It's a visit to a scam to get screwed without the previous kiss...
I just blocked a Texas number regarding inmate calls about two hours ago and now I am getting calls from this 800-483-8314 GTL number regarding prisoners. Seriously, wtf? Blocked this number on my cell, thank gawds.
For two days I have got seven calls from the HCJC local jail wanting me to accept a collect call. Local number but they don't give a name. 513 836-8133. I tried to call Justice center to advise my phone does not accept collect calls. No one answered. Today I got a call from 1 800-483-8314 wanting me to give credit card info to set up account. I think this is a scam. I don't know anyone in jail & I want the calls to stop.
No, it's not a scam. Someone in jail who is trying to talk to you must first call collect like this, to request you put money on their calling account. You can't call from a detention jail without having some money on your account--it's like .87 cents a minute. I know. I have to respond to this automated voice every time my friend needs to connect with a human being on the outside, but only if their deposit account has been depleted with calls.
I received a call from this number just few minutes ago, and they did the same their other number 713-981-0098 ! ! My caller ID still saying Global Tel Ink which I blocked it before (If they are serious, why they didn't leave a voice message saying my name or something), so I know this is will be blocked too! ! a company deals with Jail stuff in Tx ! ! I HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH TX at all ! ! SO KEEP ME AWAY FROM YOU DATA ! YOU ARE BLOCKED ....
Of course you wouldn't just do it if you didn't already know the someone who has been incarcerated. They usually can get a free call for one minute to alert you of the situation. Or you'll know some other way. And it is a legitimate way of putting it on the acct. Though their are other ways too.
