Hi all, I just got a fraud alert from AMEX by email and then a call from this number a day later. I followed up by calling them at this number and then the number on the card. Both numbers took me to their fraud department. It appears this number is legit.
This guy, who barely speaks english, calls a few times a week. He claims to be from American Express. He rattles off some numbers and then sputters for next few minutes. I always tell the same guy to f$#% off and hang up. He never stops, even when I block the number.
It's Amex - in my case about fraudulent charges, so glad I answered. Now added to address book.
The American Express Card website says their phone number is 1-800-297-3276.I got a call on my cell, caller ID showed this number, they left a msg about trouble on an American Express card with a name I never heard of before. I called this number back, to tell them they had the wrong number. Their system wanted all sorts of information about my American Express card account before connecting me with a person, which fortunately I don't have one or I might have entered it to try to get through their voicemail-jail faster. When I finally got through, the guy just said if I didn't want them to call I should go on the Nat'l Do Not Call List, which I already am, for all the good it does. I think it's a fraud.
This was a legitimate AMEX call. They called and left a message. They wanted to make sure one online charge that was made to a pizza place from WI was made by me. I'm in CA, so of course it wasn't mine. I called the number on the back of my card and the representative told me about that charge. I'm glad they left a message or I'd have never answered the next time they call for a follow up. The options for Call Type don't match what this call was about. There should be an option for "Other".
It is a phishing scam attempt. It is not American Express, but a scammer. They also send emails, spoofing. The website looks so real! I had to report it today to the real American Express.
