Heavy Indian accented man said he is with AT&T and when I told him I have no business with AT&T, he hung up. He may have been with DirecTV which is wholly owned by AT&T, but he was almost impossible to understand given his thick accent. Either way, pure telemarketing intrusion.
SUPPOSEDLY DirecTV promotion. He ALSO claimed that AT&T was now partnering with Amazon. AND you get a $100 Visa Gift Card and over 308 premium channels - their best package and they include NFL for TWO SEASONS with NO contract - well whoopdeedoo - BUT you have to PAY $300 BEFORE you get any kind of "promotional package". of course they don't tell you that UNTIL they give you the 5 minute spiel. THEN he had the nerve to complain that i wasted HIS time when I said i'm not going to pay $300. so as soon as i hung up i called DirecTV to complain about their douchettes offering this "promotional package". I did call that number back and it really IS the number for DirecTV BUT that they would NOT partner with Amazon who they consider their competitor. BOTTOM LINE - THIS IS MOST DEFINITELY A SCAM.
What is even more fun is to use the rejection hotline # as your # and when they call they get REJECTED. LOL
Answered phone, brief pause before someone spoke. Asked for my husband by first name. When I asked who was calling, they hung up. Bye-bye, you've been blocked
I just received a phone call from (800) 531-5000 for the 2nd time. The first time was about 2 or 3 weeks ago thanking me for signing up with DirectTV and I received a call today reminding me to take advantage of their free trial offering of a range of HD Channels.Since I do not have DirectTV, I wanted to be sure that someone was not trying to social engineer me and so I called DirectTV directly (no pun intended) and spoke with an account representative. She looked up my number and learned that someone had used my number to set up an account and so she then removed my number from that account, added a flag to the account and then thanked me for alerting them to the error.I also asked them to confirm if (800) 531-5000 is indeed the number for DirectTV and they were able to confirm that this is indeed their main number.Mystery solved. For those of you who read this, ALWAYS do your homework before speaking to anyone over the phone and granting them personal information. It is a good practice to thank whoever is calling, without giving them any information and then call the company they claim to represent directly in order to follow-up on your personal accounts, etc.The Skull Hacker
If they are legitimate, why do they call multiple times a week even after told NO, that you are not interested. Any company that keeps calling and asking the same questions over and over even after being asked to take off call list. My complaint is not an occasional call, but the constant calls (often several times a week) which takes it from telemarketing to harassment. This type of behavior tends to cause legitimate customers fro cancelling their service (which I am considering).
