I don't have nor have I ever had DirectTv but this number called me several times but they don't leave messages. I'm glad I saw this post.
Got same scam referenced above yesterday 10/17/2017. So they are still at it a year later. Tried to alert the "real" diecrtv about this scam continuing via their chat feature on their website but unfortunately the person in "billing" that I chatted with was more than ready to give me the same offer. Really weird since at the time I was looking at the Ultimate pkg details on their web site and it was for Ultimate pkg for $75/mo for first 12 months and then $135/mo for last 12 months for a contract period of 24 months. So now I'm questioning whether the person I was chatting with was really a directv employee. Surely they wouldn't offer the Ultimate pkg for $60/mo for 24 months to existing customers. Now I don't know what to think 0 other than to be checking my bill closely next month.
This number is supposedly from DirecTV/ATT. I believe this to be a scam and someone is spoofing their number as this 800 number is the actual number to DirecTV customer service. AT&T/DirecTV has call centers somewhere over by India so most the people speak with very heavy accents. The caller told me she could offer me a package that would cut my bundle cost in half. Told her to email me the information. She asked for my email and I told her it was on file. She got very flustered so I am 100% positive this is a total SCAM!!! Have yet to get any "information".
Not provided was the caller ID...no message left...will not answer...but it would seem it was DirecTV...why not identify as such?
8005315000 is a scam I just called the real direct tv in my area, I was told they (the real direct t.v. ) would show up on caller ID as unknown. Also they don't call you to get deals they email you or by mail on promotional.
They are "data miners" from Mumbai, India. You were a victim of an Indian scammer. The data "mined" will be sold in the black market. Sometimes they are fake "IRS agents" or "Microsoft technicians" pretending to be them to scam you from your well earned US dollars or just steeling your data to rob you from your identity. They are professional thieves from the Indian continent.
Just got this call too. Same deal with the amazon gift card/pay in advance/etc. Wow. I called direct tv to verify this and the rep tried to offer me some other promo since “that one was not available”, wasn’t till I did an internet search that I was informed it was a scam. I mean I felt it was fishy when the Indian sounding scam caller said his name was “Michael Jones”. Right...Also he asked me if I had an amazon account and If I was ready to take advantage of the offer so I could go online right now and purchase the gift card. When I told him I’d like to check and make sure this is not some kind of scam, he was very quick to get off the phone.
