got a call from this number for my boss. pretty sure social security does not call, they simply send US mail correspondencedo not give any information over the phone

Granted, this number is the number for the SSA BUT that doesn't mean the person calling you with this number on ID is from the SSA. The SSA is NOT going to call you for any reason IF they need to contact you it WOULD be through the US mail. THESE CALLS ARE GENERATED BY PORTFOLIO RECOVERY ASSOC. Report them to the real SSA It's illegal for them to spoof any number

10/11/12 Called from this number. caller ID states "unavailable"When researched..states SSA from Houston, TX. I live inMA. No reason to be called from TX.

there should be laws against this type of connection someone to start up a class action suit for harassment

I also got that call. I called the Selenas, CA SS office and talked to a rep there. The 866 number is good. Apparently, that office can be assigned claim applications for people no where near California.

I called the legitimate number for Social Security questions: 1-800-772-1213, which was listed on a letter from the SSA. I called that number and hung up when I found there'd be a long wait. I immediately got a call from them, which my call blocker trapped and identified at the Preble County Treasurer, Eaton, OH -- Huh??? I think call blocker app made a mistake. I didn't take the call back from the SSA cause it was blocked...

Just got a call and the message was in spanish......too freakin' funny No habla Espanol is this house. So I'm chalking it up to spammers.....

My husband was trying to get some info from Social Security regarding a letter he received. He chose to have SS call him back rather than wait on hold for several hours. This was the number that came up on our caller id when the Social Security office called back

I got a letter on 1/28/13 asking me to call this # 1800-254-9489 EXT. 2532 and ask for Wendi. They are requesting additional information to process my claim for benefit. I called the number but no one answered. Is this number associated with any SS office?
