Did not receive a phone call but I did get a letter in the mail. Basically it said that I had unclaimed pension benefits due to me from a company that was bought out in 1998 for the sum of $41,429.00. All of the pertinent info was correct. What I found strange is that it came from SSI but what caught my eye is that my entire SSN was printed on the letter. I have received numerous mailings from SSI usually showing just the last four digits. Don't fall for this scam.
I called 888/772-1213 to inquire about a Social Security question. The recording said to dial 0 for a live operator which I did. I was told I had won a $200 gas card and $50 Walmart card. I asked if this was the Social Security office and the lady told me I had dialed the correct number and had been qualified for this promotion and asked for my phone number and address. Then, she said there would be only a one-time charge of $2.90 for processing and asked for a credit or debit card number. When I told her I would not give out that information, she said thanks and hung up. I will also report this to the local Social Security office when I am able to get through on their number. Must be a scam.

If you receive a call from this number and the caller states they are from SSA and you will be receiving a new SS and/or Medicare card in the mail because they checked their records and your due. And then they ask you in conversation for your bank name, bank account number and PIN you must realise that this is a scam. SSA will never call you asking for confidential information. If your "due" new cards I suspect they wil appear in the mail without prior notification. The caller may already have and document some of your personal information like address and SSN. I suggest that you hang up, cal your local police so that they may make community notification and share the information your family, friends and neighbors. Safe to say, NEVER EVER, give out your personal financial informatiion to anyone on the phone that solicted you first. Sgt Caruso 713
Came through with caller ID "U S Government." Knowing the issues with calls supposedly calling from a government agency, I knew it likely wouldn't be a real/official call (agencies do not generally make a first contact via phone call) -- and I have personally used the Social Security 800 number and from experience know call backs come from very different/non-800 numbers. Listening through a call screen there was a lot of low level background noise, as in a call center/boiler room but no message left. (Even the spoofed calls for things like the IRS notifying of legal action being initiated leave threatening messages.)
I received a call from 800-772-1213. I didn't answer it and immediately received a call from 310-420-7184. The 310 no is an unlisted cell phone no. I get calls from these 310-420-xxxx numbers daily and block each of them as they do not leave a message. I suspect all of these numbers are spoofed.
I received a call from 800-772-1213 left no message and they also send me a email, I never received emails from the social security office asking for personal information I will go in person to verify this number and email that was sent to me.
Man they’re sneaky! They threatened to file felony charges against me if I ignored it a second time! Never heard from them before or since they left threatening message. Jerks! They can just bring it on! I haven’t done anything wrong! Don’t owe anyone!
