This blog sounds like a couple of 6 year olds in the back of the car. "it's a scam." "no it's not." "yes, it is..." "no it's not!" "YES IT IS!" "MOOOOOOOMMY!!!!!!" seriously people...! 1. Don't ever give out your information over the phone, period. 2. Don't ever answer an 800 call. When has anyone EVER received a good call from a '800' number? I find it repulsive that this blog is 3 pages long, and it's primarily whining.
This is not a scam. I have had Cingular/AT and T for years...ever since Cingular was Cellular One in my area. I have forgotten to pay my bill a couple of times over the years, and was actually glad they called me. I paid it over the telephone with my credit card and had no problems.
Of course its a scam. The people saying it is NOT a scam are probably in on it. If they can dig up your phone number and leave you a voice mail, they can certainly make phonie posts on the internet.
I have gotten calls from this number also. Several calls after I returned the call and told them I don't have AT&T. They checked by my name and said there was no outstanding accounts under that name. I have had my number for seven years so I don't think they are calling for someone else. The crazy thing was that when I called the operator wanted my SSN. Ummm, NO! Then she asked if I was happy with T-Mobile. Is this some sort of way to get around being on the Don't Call List? I don't know, but they are annoying me.
Point blank-----if AT&T is calling you that is fine but DO NOT give any card or bank numbers to them when they call you!! Call the main 800 AT&T number back to talk directly to them. Better safe then sorry!!!! I have been a customer for AT&T for over 20+ years and this is the only way I will deal with them. They have your info on file....you should NEVER give your numbers to anyone over the phone when they call you!! They will only ask for your pin (last four numbers of your SS) and that will be it!!!!
I got a call from this number saying they were AT&T. When I called AT&T from my cellular phone (I didn't use the 800 number) they said they hadn't called me and hadn't heard of this number. Crazy. I've gotten 5-6 of these calls and these folks should be stopped.
Scam, ignore it. Never give your card number to an unknown such as this. You can pay at whatever phone company's office it is you deal with, if you are late. If you are paid up, and still get calls from this number, it just confirms it's a scam.Anyone can call and say they are from AT&T. Just ignore the call, or better yet, block if you have that option.
It's cingular wireless calling to remind you that your payment is past due. It's NOT a scam!
