I get these calls, too, but I don't own a home - they have my work number and never leave a message on my voice mail - and when I answer, I don't get any response
My mortgage got with them, somehow. They don't seem to be a true mortgage company, just collecting my money. You can't get a straight answer from anyone there. My mortgage payments won't be late until the 15th of the month, but they start calling me on the first about a payment. I thought I had stopped them, but got a call on the first of July, 2011. Stay on them, and let's get these creeps closed down.
Had a forclosure in 2005. Neither of my mortgages was held by Fairbanks or Select Portfolio Services.Select Portfolio Services called and asked for my last 4 digits of SSN, and to verify info on myself. I refused, asking why they were calling me, and they said they couldn't tell me unless I provided them w/ some information. Clearly we were at an impasse, but the woman said they would just call back... I told her there was no sense in that since I was NOT going to give her my SSN. She said they HAD TO call back. Really looking forward to that...She also said that they have tried to contact me via mail- no they haven't. They're making me nervous, but I have no clue why they're calling. Not sure what to do next, but watch out!!!
Have been getting calls from this number 2-3 times a day for the past 2 weeks. They called 5 times yesterday. Sometimes you answer and get dead air other times they just hang up. I finally got someone on the phone last night after 8pm and explained that they have the wrong number when they asked for the person they are looking for. I got another call this morning with dead air. It's getting annoying. I just got this phone number last month. These are calls are absolutely not for me.
I got a phone call also, missed call and no VM. So I tried them back after reading this message board and they were inquiring about a payment due on the 1st. Grace period is until the 15th, which I am taking full advantage of but I still get the phone call on the 7th or 8th. Good lending practice to follow up on payments, but kind of crappy that they dont leave a message. My qualm with these guys is that I'm trying to modify my loan to lock in a fixed rate (rate is adjusting every year, can't sell the home and am renting it out), but these guys wont modify the loan. After taking my information and verifying income & expenses, they wouldn't modify my loan because they said I made too much money! I needed to have a "hardship" in order to qualify for a loan modification. I explained that the real hardship is that the property is over leveraged (probably 125% LTV) and that the property was vacant for the last 4 months. Additionally, we can't refinance at another Bank because they property is upside down. The best option, which would reduce my risk as well as the Bank's, is to fix the interest rate and reduce the amortization in order to build equity quicker. How stupid is our government that they wont do a modification until I actually can't make payments. I'm trying to avoid a hardship, but they refuse to help. I thought Obama was trying to get the government on board with fixing the housing mess.
Received 3 calls today from the above. It is SPS. The last call was at 8:50 p.m. on 1/18/12. I decided to answer, and the male on the other end was supposedly doing a courtesy call about the mortgage for January. I told him I was not late and didn't appreciate calling me so late. He apologized, and then I told them about the awful training the boiler room people have. They are not a mortgage company and I asked who the private investor was. Would not tell me and said all modifications, etc. were done by them.I need to look into this company through my state attorney general's office.
Be careful! These phone calls are probably for you and you don't know it yet! When Fairbanks acquired my mortgage from Conti in 1999-2000, I was not informed. I was sending payments to Conti and the delinquency letters and phone calls from Fairbanks. All these years and I am STIILL stuck with these
Its Select Portfolio Servicing....they're our mortgage company. If you're a little late they call...no biggie.
