Call from this number was "Card Member Services" saying I was eligible to lower my credit card interest rates. I don't have a credit card so I knew this was a scam. When I pressed 1 to speak with a customer representative he explained that I was eligible to lower my interest rates. When I said that I don't have a credit card he hung up on me.
Received call from them on Tuesday. Left no message. But, this was just after I blocked the 867 (Jamaica) telephone scam calls I was getting. Reported the scam to the my telephone company and they blocked and restricted both my landline and cell. Just after filing the police reports as well. Coincidence?
"Rachel from Card Services" Scam. They try to make it sound like you are already a member (or that they are from your bank) to get you to divulge personal information while with their operatives. Asking them to take you off of their lists is futile, since these groups are organized like terrorist cells: independent, no knowledge of the others, and relentless in their efforts to do you harm. Threaten to sue their operators, that usually keeps them off of your back for a week or so.
Received this call on my cell phone. When I dialed through to get me off the list I was connected with a smart [***] who told me that I couldn't stop these calls since I had a Visa or MC credit card. This guy was a real pro who stuck to his script ans was apparently used to having someone yell at him. A bunch of sleaze bags!
I have been getting these phone calls from this and other numbers repeatedly. I have noticed that they have slowed down some because I've been blocking them (albeit temporarily). On my most recent call, I spoke to a real person and she was quite helpful to a point. The company calling is actually called Cardmember Services (and not a department) and they work with over 600 credit card companies and FDIC banks regarding lowering interest rates. She said that they got my number because one of my credit cards was recently up for review. Apparently, Cardmember Services got my number from my credit card company. In looking at my credit report, I was able to determine which credit card company was the culprit and called them. They admitted that they were partners with Cardmember Services and that when I opened the account and gave them my phone number, I never opted out of receiving marketing solicitations from the company or their partners. Long story short, I asked them to opt me out and they did. They said it would take 30 days, though I did demand it be expedited. Moral of the story, look at your most recent credit report, find out which credit card company is giving out your number, and ask them to stop. Hopefully (and I am crossing my fingers), you stop receiving these calls.
I saw on the news this morning the only way to stop the calls is to send them a registered letter asking to be removed from the call list. And then that's not a guarantee they will stop calling. NBC had a thing on it this morning. The guy in charge is driving a Ferrari and has millions of people reporting him to the DNC he has been fined up to 28,000.00 pays his fines and continue to make calls. They started out in Texas but have some other branches, but I don't remember where. All I can say is keep reporting them and do not answer your phone.
yes, and when you waste their time, they give your # to others as the do not call list it happened to me...........
802-230-6357 keeps calling me and I keep telling them to take me off of their list. They keep asking me if I carry more than 5k in credit card debt and offer a 6.9% card. I've screamed at them and they still keep calling me and I'd like to press charges against them because it's on my personal cell phone 253-569-5554 and I sure to hope complaining about this and adding my ph# to your complaint does not put me on another fricking list!
