This number 866-419-5000 is identified as "Emergency Comm" and leaves a message asking to "press any number" which apparently lets them know they have reached a real number. What they do then is beyond me, but I delete it before the message starts.
I just had a call from CODERED ALERT 866-419-5000. It was completely legit. It was a test tornado alert for our county that I live in. So if you get a call from this number and Caller ID shows CODERED ALERT, I would answer it. It could save your life.
Yes police are there to protect you even if you are a dumb***. These calls are total BS.
I just got a recorded call from a service provider @ 866 419-5000. It seems a death investigation has been upgraded to a possible homicide. Tragic news, but not an emergency. The local news is amply covering this situation on television and online.NOTE: I have never authorized any robo-call police communication. To be very clear, I have not signed up/opted in/authorized this call. Apparently, If you live in the Town of Paradise Valley your phone number is programed to receive unauthorized "updates", regarding a variety of factoids.Unsubscribing is possible, however requires providing/verifying a litany of additional personal information. Whether/not your information is sold/shared it is definitely being used by a third party service provider! So the dynamic is... you will be interrupted, sometimes awakened, definitely annoyed by unauthorized nonemergency calls until you provide the additional required personal information to opt out. Don't even get me started on the wasted budget dollars spent on this uninvited "service" providing redundant factoids about nonemergency situations.Paradise Valley AZ residents remember to Vote!
These are Code Red alerts from the local police notifying people of emergency situations. These "a__ __ holes" as you quote----do this to protect you....isnt that the oath they took? If something should happen to you because you were not made aware thru this system...I wish you what ever happens after that!Think before you write
I didn't answer as it was 1:37 in the morning. I did check the message and it was a Code Red call from my college advising residents to stay inside as Melbourne police were chasing an armed suspect on campus grounds.I did turn the ringer off because I do not live there so the threat did not affect me and they said they would call back when the threat had passed. Bottom line the call was legit.
866-419-5000 is a legitimate city emergency notification system. I received a call from this # today from my local Sheriff's Dept. to alert citizens to two missing pre-teen children. Names, ages, descriptions were provided with a plea to check your vehicles, outbuildings, etc. for the presence of this kids. This is serious, please listen to the entire message, if in doubt, call your local law enforcement agency.
I registered for a Red Alert (Code Red) system in Louisville, KY. They were testing it today and this is the number that they used. It's a national system, and the city pays for services.
I called the police in my town to confirm that they were using the emergency call system. I told them that when I picked up the phone, there was no message. He had me register on the town's website. I then did a test call from the website and received the test recorded message. Give your police department a call - use the non-emergency phone number, though!
