i get calls from these 866 numbers weekly, never anyone on the phone when you answer so quit picking up. i did not they were an emergency info alert number. still no messages comes thru.
they've called seven times within 2 hrs. and its getting quite aggravating. but i never answered it b/c it comes up as not provided and unknown number.
ARRRRRRGGGGGHHHHHHH!!!!!! if they're THAT desperate, they'd use a scrolling bar on the bottom of the TV screen if there's a missing person. but to call persistently isn't going to save a life like that when they don't provide a name with the number.
Received call today from 866-419-5000 (CodeRED). It was to help find an elderly man with dementia who was last seen 1/4 mile from my home 3 days ago. This is an incredible service, but why can't the caller ID show this is CodeRed? Not to many people answer a call when they don't know who it is, but I would pick it up if I could possibly help someone!

I received a call from this number and it was in fact an Amber Alert for a child near a Forest Preserve in our area.
Used by the local police here in a suburb of Chicago. In the most recent instance, it was regarding a missing 12 year-old not seen since his way to school. No action was requested, no solicitation, and no scam.
called six times in a row with no message left. when i finally was able to pick up the phone it was a message from the police dept recording. very annoying!!!
What life saving info? That you should get up in the middle of the night and search for a child that IS NOT MISSING? That is the call that I got from 1-866-419-5000 at 3:15 am, and it sounds like it could be used by people who want to take your life , not save it.If a phone number is able to be used by hoaxes is it of any use to a community, except to endanger them? What about the next call, will it be telling us to do something even worse. like arm ourselves and go into the streets shooting each other?
