Shayne - what about those of us who don't HAVE an American Express card? Am I an idiot, too? I have a family member who works for AMEX and they do not handle call in this manner. FYI.
I contacted Amex, they looked it up and said it was their number. They connected me, and I explained to the woman that I didn't have an AMEX card, so she took my phone number to remove it. Never asked for any name, SSN...not that I would have given it anyway.
Received an automated message saying they were American Express, needing to discuss an important matter, and to call this number. Instead, I called the customer service number on the back of my card and the rep confirmed this is NOT an AMEX phone number, and they show NO record of having called me today, nor any reason they needed to contact me. The rep said she would report this to their security team. It's very shady; don't respond to this call.
This is AMEX!You probably have a phone whom previously owed amex. Smoke a blunt. Chill
Got a call from this number. Will ignore it like I do EVERY call from any so-called credit company. Just because it is a "legitimate" phone number does not mean the caller originated from this number. This would explain the confusion at customer service when you called the number on the back of your card....there was no "issue". If your account is "overdue" or there is a "problem" it will show up when you log onto your account. I would suggest logging onto your account and if you see no "issue" then it was a fake call...PERIOD! Their website will tell you of any activity or "overdue" issue. You would also get an email. Like always, never use a link that is included in ANY email. With the current digital age, software can have anything the fake caller wants to come up on your caller i.d. It doesn't mean it is a legitimate call just because it is a "legitimate" number on the caller i.d.
This is not a legitimate call and you are most likely part of the scam because scammers know of this site. They often use "this is the real deal" comments to keep people off balance. I have access to my FICO score and I know all of my balances. You are a douche and so are your friends at this number.
This is a company colleting for American express. Very rude and pushy to set up auto-pay. Had to decline 4 times to callers "why?" even after knowing a payment was made that morning she was extremely rude. So rude had to talk to supervisor (Steven). Very understanding and I hope he does listen to her call (tape) tome and retrains her.
I was getting numerous calls from this # but never answered. When I googled it and found this site, I called the # on the back of my card. They confirmed that this is a true Amex # but found no message on my account. I finally answered tonight and they were looking for a relative. If you don't have an account, it's very likely they are trying to find someone you may know. Apparently, they are allowed to do that.
What constitutes a "scam". It seems to depend on who's doing it. Corporations do all kinds of things that would put an individual in jail. That's why lawyers and financiers turn themselves into single person corporations. It should be LTD, License to Defraud. (They call three or four times a day starting at 8am. The don't offer any sort of means to resolve anything.)
