HH Student - what was your final mark?? did you get over 80%? and if you did, did they agree to refund you? or are they finding a technicality for not refunding you?
Last Saturday I read any article in the Financial Post about Haverhill's antics. But there seems to be more to this than meets the eye.Haverhill claims to guarantee employment to students who graduate from its staging course. A look at the terms and conditions listed on the company’s website shows that graduating is a lot tougher than a would-be home stager might expect.1 .The lessons have to be completed in a tight timeframe: a student has only two months to complete each segment of the course. Haverhill tells you to “work at your own pace.”2 .Students have to find and stage two houses on their own, and people have stated they were required to stage up to five.3 .Students have to receive a grade of 75% on their final exam.If you somehow manage to jump through these hoops, you should graduate from the course. But, you can still be declined employment if you don’t do well in Haverhill’s interview. If you fail the interview, a guarantee kicks in.In Google advertisements, for instance, Haverhill claims“Certificate & Guaranteed Employment Fully refundable course fee.”“Guaranteed Job placement. No Risk fully refundable Course Fee”But the reality is different. Haverhill states in the fine print of its terms of service that it will not refund your entire payment as, “fully refundable course fee,” would imply. It keeps $250 as a processing fee. The Ontario PCC Act allows for non-refundable deposits of up to 20% under certain circumstances ($250 is 26%), but the federal Competition Act does not allow for misleading advertising at all.Haverhill will allow you to withdraw from the course within seven days, but will keep $250 of your money. Ontario law allows for a complete refund within a 10-day cooling-off period, so Haverhill is in violation of the Ontario Consumer Protection Act.Potential Haverhill students would be well advised to make inquiries about their employment prospects before they register for the course!
Ask Haverhill to do more assignments to make up for the 1 point that you are missing...they give you opportunity to send in additional assignments to obtain a higher grade...if you are really great at home staging, and you love it, it could very well be worth your while! Best of luck!
My final grade was an 80. However there is no link to apply for employment.Because they are stating that my course materials were late. I have confirmation from USPS that they arrived the day before the due date but I sent to Portland Oregon and they received them in Canada after the due date from the Portland office (which by the way, the Terms still says to do if you are a US citizen). They will not answer my questions about applying. I know from the Message boards that there must be other students in the same situation. The instructor posted back to wait for a few weeks for an "independent contractor" position. If I wait , then I will be over the time period for the guarantee.
Once again, has anyone-anyone-gotten a job at Haverhill staging for that great pay they promise you?
Oh, get over it already...I'm trying to find useful information...your BS is on every page...take that negative energy and focus it into something positive...we've all been burned at one time or another, some worse than others...I have a much more sad story, several to be more accurate, and I'm not boo-hooing on some forum...state the facts and leave the rest for us to judge...oh, and did I already say, get over it already!!!
EXACTLY.. it's like getting a job.FOR example.I applied for a job a long time ago back. First part was a computer test which I passed. Second was an interview which I did not pass. SO.. I didn't get hired. & thats how haverhill works.."1. successfully complete & pass the Stager Training Course. "2. reside in or be available to work in, one of our operating territories; and, "3. successfully complete a personal interview assessment. ****Note: If you’re not offered employment following graduation, we’ll refund 100% of your course fee.****It is pretty straight forward... I've called them out of interest about a month ago and I think I'm just about done doing my research on the company and because I have nothing to lose I might as well shoot for the stars. The more training and certificates I can gather with any program will one day enhance me in my future career as an interior decorator and real state agent.
Hi JJ. I just took the test, and I have to say it's very strange how they have it set up. 55 questions comprised of multiple choice, true or false, and essay questions. You are not allowed to skip a question and then go back and answer it later or you will stop the test. They also don't tell you that most of the test are essay questions, which takes time to think about and then type. 55 questions in 2 hours gives you 2 minutes and 18 seconds per question. What if someone can't type very fast? It is almost impossible to get a decent grade on this test. My sister is a designer for major corporations who do testing, and she states she has never seen anything like this, the major complaint is that you can't go back to check your answers or skip forward and answer the ones you are sure about. I could go on and on about problems I saw with this course. One more thing. One of the exercises I did had 6 rooms, I did them all, and then was told I left a lot of pages blank. It states in the book and on their website that homes you do will not have all the rooms listed. Therefore, I received a low grade for that exercise. What????? My background has been in marketing and TRAINING, and I so wish I had never signed up for this course. It may or may not be a scam, but it is the worst training program I have ever come across. I should have known better. Good luck to you.
class action law suit. oh yes, it will happen. i am working with a lawyer who specializes in this matter. yes, everyone's situation is different, however, they are mostly based on the same issue. and this is what i intend to fight for. i am in contact with other students by email, in contact with a lawyer, and not afraid to take them on.the thing about a class action suit is proving one party was wrong. and i intend to do that. it's quite easy you see, because they themselves have worded the book just so, and once i show this, it will be simple. anyone interested in finding out more info can certainly email me, however, i will be leary of who i reply back to since i know that haverhill employees are always out there trying to manipulate these boards.my email is myhoneybunny9@hotmail.combelieve me, some things are worth fighting for. and this is one of them!
