Also, this past weekend, they called me as an 'unknown number' and when I answered, the person at the other end asked for Cynthia S. When I said 'Oh you're the collection agency. I'm not the person you're looking for", the person promptly hung up, cutting me off mid-sentence. This company should be charged with harrassment. While an 'undesirable' business, a professional collection agency would not do such a thing...not that I've ever had any bad debts to worry about!

My mother keeps receiving phone calls from this company and is being abused by a rep probably giving a fake name as he can't be reached. She is a 75 year old lady and a young male seems to be abusing her for personal pleasure. A Mr TAU keeps calling her and bombarding her with questions but provides a phone number for a mr Paula? Is Mr Paula trying to be a MR TAU? Is this guy even licensed??. I have done a search and concluded mr tao does not exist as a collector in Canada so they are calling without a purpose or calling unlicensed. I have filed a ministry complaint as well as a report with the police for harassment. Im so glad she is smart enough to pick up only AFTER the voicemail clicks in... HAVE FUN DEALING WITH THIS ONE GUYS!!!!!!!!

MJR keeps calling and not leaving messages now - previously they called my business number and left a message "you owe $XX please call us back", so I called back and asked who they were looking for because I don't anyone anything - turns out they were looking for my ex - who died over 8 years ago (this is super painful for me becasue he took his life). The person I spoke to said they can't take my name out of their system until the debt is paid or until I send a death certificate - I have no conotact with his family to get a death certificate and he didn't have contact with them when he when he was alive. So now they just call once a week, and I never answer the calls, they never leave a message and weekly I am reminded of how sad his lilfe was and how I lost my best friend. Thanks A-holes.

This idiot company thinks they can collect of a $43 debt from over 10 years ago re 407ETR. Interest now puts it over $1,200. The original debt was in error. It never happened and should not have been billed out. I don't care what anyone says good or bad about this company or its ownership. If I get any more calls, there's going to be a few execs who get 'taken care of'. As to 2 year statute of limitation is Ontario, that is quite correct. Which by the way, makes these guys worse criminals than us guys. Watch your backs you c**ksuckers. We know where you live, we know where your kids go to school. Just sayin.

I keep getting calls from this number. They claim to be MJR collections. No one ever answers. I have left numerous messages telling them not to call my number.

had a similar issue with the same rude idiot in 2009. he was telling me that Im a dead beat and I need to grow up because I owed 200 bucks to cogeco. I told one of his superiors that he assaulted me and that they have no right saying derogatory comments about me.

Your best course of action is to get in touch with your provincial regulator (e.g. Service Alberta, Service Nova Scotia, etc) and file a consumer complaint, though you should first contact MJR by email (they have a contact form on their website) and ask them to stop calling you by phone, and only correspond by mail (which they should have no issue doing if you legitimately do owe).

Yeah they are an collection agency,basically any 1(866) # are from collectors or solicitators.Beware though some might be a scam from an con artist.They usually use caller i.d. spoofing in order to decieve.If they claim to be from a collection agency just ask for them to confirm your identity such as asking if they know your d.o.b. ,address,sin# etc. If they can't provide the answers then that's your cue that their up to no good. If they are indeed from a genuine collection agency and you know that you are delinquent in your payments then you should not worry too much,because they really have no legal grounds to sue you or even garnish your wages lets alone confiscate your assets.The reasons for this is simple,according to the contract you signed and agreed with your creditors,it clearly stipulates that you owe the money to them and them alone.once your creditor write of the amount they are unable to collect and sell it to an collection agency,then your no longer legally obligated to pay them,simply because the contract clearly stipulates that you owe the money solely to the creditor and not the collection agency.Furthermore when the collectors do make the threat of suing you,they know that the have no legal grounds,their just saying it in order to scare you into paying.Collectors usually buy written off debt from your creditors by say purchasing it for 20 cents on the dollar. This is basically how the collectors are able to profit.

yes I'm having similar problems with this guy. He had me in court the other day he appeared via phone conference and accepted on behalf of the bank $50 a month but he still wanted a writ of seizure on my land ladies home? That I co- signed for therefore my name is on the title, now I have to go to trial with this thug that claims he is the banks lawyer and the bank will not settle for just payment they want the property that I don't own seized? This guy has scam written all over him and somehow must be stopped, I checked him out on the upper law society web page and his address is not the same as the one on his letter head but is the same address as mjr I am wondering if there are two Joel miskins one that is a Lic lawyer and then this guy that owns mjr and that is possibly not licensed. I contacted the upper law society on the phone with the lic number provided on the court papers and they refused to tell me if it was his, either way I smell a rat. If anyone knows anything else about this thug please share he needs to be stopped!
