Rec'd this call just now and let it roll to voice mail. It was from SS asking me to call if I needed help with prescription drug plans. Very odd but the 1-800 number left on the voice mail really does ring over to SS.

This is a legitimate automated reminder call from the Social Security Administration - In my case it was confirming a hearing appointment and confirming I had received the paperwork and was planning to attend. (press 1, press 1). You all should remember these days that the fed has nationwide offices. And evidently this reminder service is out of Texas. Use your heads people, or you could be shooting yourself in the foot. They may do reminders for other SS issues out of Texas so don't read scam if you don't have an appointment scheduled.

Actually Mr know-it-all, I am an IT professional and I received the same call from the "social security administration" concerning a form I needed to full out. After contacting the social security administration and finding out it was a scam. I traced this number to a different network. They are using the social security channel to run scams. So some of these calls may be legitimate. But mostly they are scams and should be reported.

If you people are receiving legitimate calls from the SSA reminding you of appointments, why are you on this site? Whenever I get a call from someone reminding me of an appointment, I don't log onto this site and tell everyone about it.

Incorrect. They dont ask you for any info. It is automated reminder for ss.

Very incorrect info. You cant even call the number back. Its for outbound automated calls only. There is noone on the line asking for your info.

I called Social Security directly an was told this 972-497-1400 is a phising SCAM and Social Security only uses 800 number s as do all governmental agencies! DON'T ANSWER THE CALL and definitely DON'T CALL BACK!!! Social Security has one number you call to unless THEY have given you another number during an interview! 800-772-1213 is the ONE AND ONLY NUMBER Social Security uses!!

Scam. Caller I.D. says american voice. Not the SSA. Would not answer when I answered the phone.

That's exactly what mine was as well. Reminder of a phone interview. Not any kind of spam, telemarketers, Bill collectors or Prank calls for once haha. I ignored it too cause that's what I thought it was.
