I beg to differ, It is NOT a scam, they called me to remind me of my appointment with them tomorrow, as they stayed they would.

SCAM.......SCAM.......SCAM!!!!!!!This was verified a Scam by Social Security and The Arkansas Attorney General's Office!I received a call from 972-497-1400. I did not answer, but they left a voice mail saying they were with Social Security Disability, but I knew it was a SCAM (FOR ONE I LIVE IN ARKANSAS.......NOT TEXAS). The caller ID showed the number was with Eland Corporation from Texas. They said they were calling to verify that I received my letter with Date, Time and Place of Disability Hearing.I DO HAVE A DISABILITY COURT DATE AND THEY KNEW DATE, TIME AND PLACE. I TRIED CALLING NUMBER BACK, BUT NUMBER WAS DISCONNECTED. I THEN CALLED SOCIAL SECURITY AND THEY SAID THEY DO NOT CALL AND VERIFY THIS INFORMATION.PLEASE DO NOT GIVE YOUR INFORMATION OUT. I HAVE MADE A RULE TO MYSELF THAT I DO NOT GIVE MY INFORMATION OUT, BUT SOME WOULD.
This is a legitimate number for Social Security Administration, and they use it for automated appointment reminders. I had an appointment scheduled with SSA on Tuesday, and I received a call from this number on Monday with information about my appointment time and place. Only SSA would have that information. My only complaint is that the CallerID says it is "AMERICAN VOICE." I am guessing that is a 3rd party robo-call service contracted for making these reminders. But they should have the CallerID changed to identify themselves as SSA.On the other hand, after reading other entries here at 800notes, I am guessing that some scammer has gotten hold of and is using this number. Phone numbers can be faked using software, etc. At one time I received a call that said it was from my own phone number, and CallerID identified the call as coming from myself. So the source phone numbers and caller IDs can be faked.I think that such software or devices that fabricate phone number and CallerID information should be made illegal, because the only purpose for having such software/devices is to defraud people.
This is a legitimate Social Security appointment reminder number, but is also being spoofed by scammers to commit fraud. I have seen this happen in the past with scammers using legitimate numbers for real charities or other organizations to attempt frauds. Probably the best thing to do is to ask the caller for a number that you can call them back at.
A recording from Social Security reminding me I had scheduled an appointment for the following day.
Just recieved this phone call. Voicemail from Social Security, reminding me of my appointment. They do give an 800 number to call back if I were to cancel. It is a legitimate #
It's just like Bruce Wayne's BAT PHONE. You pick it up and it connects directly to Obama's bedroom.
