this is a scam. im a teenager and i have never done anything involving use of my social. (kinda obvious) and my mom tried to call them back but it said the number was no longer in service. i got the call at like 2 something while i was in school.
My call from this number was NOT A SCAM. It was the Social Security Administration reminding me of a real appointment I had for the following day.
I got the call and did not answer. I did not have any appointment with social security. Never give out personal info unless YOU called and you know who it is. I just don't bother answering the phone anymore. They either want me to donate to a good cause after I ALREADY did a week ago, or they tell you your loan...the one you did not apply for is ready but you need to hurry and finish giving them your bank info so they can DEPOSIT the loan there for you....No law says you MUST answer your phone!Peace, y'all :)
No clue who they are they hang up on the Answering machine. It can't be from a Social Security office. 1st off I would assume the 972 area code is in Texas (according to the caller ID). I live in Pennsylvania so what would a SS office from Texas be calling me? 2nd when the SS office calledme, on the caller ID it came up as "U S Govt". SS Office's main office is located in Maryland.
Please, report this call to the national Do Not Call Registry. It is NOT the Social Security Office. It is illegal to contact you with a pre-recorded device, EVER. The Social Security Office will NEVER do this. Although the recording does NOT ask for any information, they could be verifying your phone number is still registered to the number they have for the person's information they accessed illegally. They are still calling to phish for more information. However, please help by callilng and reporting them to the Do Not Call Registry, as such calls are illegal to make.Their number is:. 1+888-382-1222
sounds like a scam, I applied for SSA retirement benefits On-lineno problems at all, why would the SSA call a cell phone unless youhad previous contact with them giving them a cell number?and previous posters mentioned that their SSA office didn't knowanything about these calls.
You can add ANY phone number to Google that you would like to. This does NOT mean it really belongs to the Social Security Office. In addition, you can call a phone number and there is a FREE service that you can use to make phone calls APPEAR like they are coming from ANY NUMBER YOU CHOOSE. Just because a phone number APPEARS to be from Social Security, does NOT even mean it is REALLY from the number that displays on your caller ID.Good advise, NEVER give financial information to ANYONE that calls you from a phone number (ESPECIALLY A PRE-RECORDED DEVICE). It is ILLEGAL to make phone calls using a pre-recorded device, too. If you think Social Security called you, call your local Social Security Office, directly and obtain information. Also, if ANYONE calls you looking for your personal information, call the REAL phone number for that company or agency. Do NOT just hit call return, either. The Social Security Office WILL NEVER call you using a pre-recorded device ILLEGALLY. Please, report this call to: 1+888-382-1222 This is the number for the Federal Trade Commission's Do Not Call Registry. You do NOT need to be registered with them to send them a complaint from a pre-recorded message call, because it is illegal to send these type calls to ANYONE.
