I got a call this a.m. (10/21/08) telling me I had an hearing before a Judge Brown for 10:30 the following day and to check my "notice of hearing" for the exact place and time.....FIRST OF ALL....I DO NOT HAVE A HEARING BEFORE ANY JUDGE SCHEDULED FOR TOMORROW OR ANY OTHER DAY!! THIS IS A SCAM CALL!!!!! I would advise anyone to never, ever respond to this type of call even if you do have some kind of appointment scheduled....It's just a ploy to pry personal information that you should never give out over the phone to anyone!!I did not pick up the phone and have reported the number to the National Do Not Call Registry although I don't expect any results....(I also have a grip about that website; ever since I moved and got this new number I have gotten a lot of solication calls and it's done me no good to put my number on that list)
I work at a Law firm that deals with SSA, one of my clients rec'd this call. When I called that SSA to get confirm for my clients appt I was told that the Automated system would not be giving wrong information. When I called the # back. I told me that is was not a working #. So for all of you on this that are part of the scam, I think that it is unacceptable for you to be taking advantage of the disabled. I would just like to say that ALL SOULD BE CAREFUL WHAT INFOMATION YOU ARE GIVING OUT. I HOPE NONE OF YOU FALL VICTIM TO THIS SCAM!!!!!
Yes I recieved but accidently hung up. I can't call back for the phone wont let me. Is it a prank cuz' I do have an appt. on Thursday.
NOT A SCAM! This was a legitimate call from the Social Security Administration reminding me of the recent mailing regarding pharmacy assistance benefits for which I could be eligible and that I needed to return the application and/or contact them for further assistance if I believed that I may be eligible for program benefits when I turn 65.
Received several missed calls from this number (American Voice). Called back, as some claim its from Social Security however an automated message says "number no longer in service". Whoever called from this number did not leave a message.
I received a call from them about a letter and an appointment. I have received no letter nor have I an appointment with the ssa. I don't know but if it is important enough, they can and will send me a letter via granny mail like the gov usually does.I can understand why so many are here questioning about the caller, but what I don't understand is why there are so many post from those who apparently came here just to assure everyone that it is legit. If they don't question it's validity, why should they even bother to come here just to reassure? I don't care whether it is legit or not, I'm not talking to or calling anyone back concerning anything to do with appointments I don't have or with my financial or personal information. When someone says they sent me a letter, that I didn't receive, or says that I have an appointment that I do not, I am definately not going there. Just send it Granny USPS mail and I will review it...
If anyone is concerned as to whether or not it is legitimate from SSI or SSA go to there website and call their number they have posted..there are numerous scammers making phone calls that are not legitimate..be careful..and never give info to anyone unless you know who you are talking to! It is true..phone numbers can be cloned or spoofed..just be cautious!
And not many people are going to come to this site simply to post reassurances when they have no reason to question the caller...
