I believe it really is the Social Security Administration. I have an appointment with them, and I'm sure they are calling to remind me of the appointment or remind what to bring to the meeting. Surprisingly enough, they did not leave a message, but I bet they will call me again. I don't live in Texas, but many companies and organizations use automated systems to send out bulk messages. I belong to a group that meets once a month in another state. The facilitator uses a system to send out a message once a month to all the members, reminding them of the meeting and topic to be presented. It is not a robo call. It is a message from the facilitator, but she uses the system to record the message once, but send that one message to all the members. The area code on that monthly call is a Texas area code, but our group is in another state.
I THINK IS A SCAM CAUSE ITS A TEXAS # AND I LIVE IN CALI. SAYING THAT I HAVE APPONTEMNT THAT I DIDNT EVEN MAKE !!!!!!!!
THIS IS NOT SOCIAL SECURITY!!! Well This Is My Second Phone Call 972-497-1400 It Showed Up In My Id Caller As American Voice And When I Google American Voice This Is What It Said www.americavoice.comAmerica Voice is an international long distance calling service that provides a simple, reliable and inexpensive way to connect with friends and family abroad THIS IS NOT SOCIAL SECURITY!!!!They Ask For Personal Information Social Security Number Etc...... Do What You Want At Your Own Risk!!!!
I THINK YOUR SAYING THAT CAUSE YOUR THE PERON THAT TRYING TO TAKE PEOPLE INFO... SHAM ON YOU !!!!!!!!!
The LED said, American Voice, so I didn't pick up. Their recorded message identified the call as from Social Security, regarding a letter they sent a couple weeks ago. (About signing up for medicare drug prescriptions--I turn 65 in January.) They referred me to the SS website and also provided a phone number to call if I have questions. (I already took care of the matter.) So it seems legit. But I agree, it's best to be safe. Never, ever give anyone you don't know personal information of any kind over the phone or online. And if you're directed to a website, find it on your own instead of using the address given by the caller.
Call came in while I was out. Answering machine did pick up, but no message was left. I don't have an appointment with Social Security, but am applying for Medicare Part D
The call I received from this number seemed to be legit -- it was the disability office reminding me of my hearing day after tomorrow. It never asked me to enter in my social security number. The recording did ask me to press 1 if I received notice of my hearing or press 2 if I did not receive notice.....I pressed nothing because I already mailed them the confirmation letter, and I do not like to respond to calls like this by pressing numbers on my phone because you never know who is really on the other end of the line. Scammers can hijack numbers these days and make it appear that a legit person is calling, so I just assume all automated calls and unfamiliar numbers are scammers.
I got the callI do not nor have I had an apointment with Social Security, and if I did, it would not come from TEXAS, besides, Caller ID said it was from "American Voice"
You likely don't have an appointment with SS just because this number said you did. They will get ur SS on phone, tell you that u have an appointment and in some areas even have a land office you show up at to fill out more papers so they can scam you.Try calling the number back on a cell phone. You can't. UNLESS the building you go to says SS on it and is a government building it is a scam. SS notifies you by MAIL with instructions NOT phone! Beware since you are about to lose every dime and everything you have.
