I received a call from this number but did not answer because the caller ID said "American Voice". I figured it was a sales call or telemarketer, or survey company. I do have an appt. with Social Security on the 5th so after reading the comments above I see that this call was probably a reminder of that appt. I wish the caller ID said Social Security instead of American Voice as I would have answered it.
After reading these posts I can not believe just how stupid people are and its no wonder we are continuously putting up with SCAMS because there is a sucker born every minute. I received a call to day from 972-497-1400 and the caller ID said "AMERICAN VOICE". It is a scammer but if all you Obama voters want to believe it's Social Security then be my guest. I do not have a appointment with Social Security or with any Court. The number that called is from Dallas Texas and I live in Washington State 35 miles from the Canadian border.
How do you know the call would not come from Texas? Social Security has call centers all across the country. I contacted them in June and spoke to a man in Wisconsin, and the next day when I called again I spoke to someone in Maryland. So it could be possible a call from them could originate from Texas.
I just got a call from this number. I was on the phone when they called, but when I called them back I got a recording saying this number is currently unavailable.
Just received a phone call from SSA. It's a reminder for an appointment that was made last week. It's not a SCAM and it did not ask for any personal information - automated phonecall FYI.
This number called my husband ask for his ss# and when he tried to call back hangs up. I called the court house to ask what he had a appointment for and they said they would not call and ask for your ss#. It is a scam!!!
I agree, it is SSA. I have an appt on Mon and that is all they did. Remind me. They did not ask for any info. They gave me an 800 number to call back if I wanted to change time of appt. that WAS SSA. Called LOCAS SSA where my appt is and they verified both numbers. Like the poster above says, they may have a wrong number in their system. The person that they are really trying to get in touch with may have given them a fake number...it could be anything. There are just as many or more people on here saying that it is a real call from SSA as there are people saying it is a scam. If it was a scam, why didn't they ask for any info? Why only perform a useful service? What would be the point? Paranoid Obama haters!
