The caller named CAC. 973 785 3000 stupid phone call I already reported to AT&T i so sick and tired of this callers MY NUMBER IS P R I V A T E I pay for anonymous call blocking and where is the privacy???

They hung up on my answering machine. CID said "CAC," which apparently stands for Certified Audit of Circulations. It sounds like they were calling to verify that I got the phone book that I immediately threw into the recycle bin. After I tore it in half, of course. So I got something out of it.

I was suspecting something like that-thanks for posting. They have been bothering me for more than a year now. I'm keeping a log, and have told them over and again to cease calling, but to no avail. It's always this same number from New Jersey. They ask me if I've received my phone books & I tell them to leave me alone. They call me daily for a week or so, back off for a couple of months & then call again for a couple of weeks. If I let it go to my voicemail they leave a message about half of the time. I'm seriously aggravated.

If they are calling numbers on the Do Not Call list they are not making an HONEST living.

calling to verify I received the phone book. Since I throw phone books immediately into the recycle bin, I told them, "No, I don't have the phone book."let them waste money dropping another copy, I can throw it away too. Who uses paper phone books anymore?

The caller ID says this is from Certified Audit. They call 6 - 10 Xs a day, but leave no message. Getting rather tired of it.

didn't get to the phone to answer but the message was totally inaudible - something about knives and he this and that! Accent too strong to understand. Way weird and will block this number from my provider! Beware - not a good feeling about this.
