They continue to call my home phone, as well as, my cell phone. Since I moved, I actually didn't have internet service for awhile in my new place. When they called, I asked, "Don't I need to have internet for you to detect that?" The lady, who I couldn't understand, hung up. Every time they call, I continue to ask them, "How do you know I have a computer issue if I don't have internet?" They are from India because Microsoft wouldn't call you to do an update over the phone!
They just called me and said they were from windows...Yada Yada Yada...then I said sorry I don't have windows and he starting saying " hey listen, hold on, listen you son of a [***]" and I hung up. I honestly thought it had to be a prank from a friend or something and I was waiting for a call back. It was actually pretty comical.Idiots!
Just saw I got a call from this 996 #, no message left but these note are a huge help. I will block this #
I got the same call didn't answer, i never answer numbers i don't know especially 800 or 900 numbers. after reading all these comments I plan on answering next time and giving them the fog horn into the phone.
This piece of [***] guy called saying he was calling windows about fixing my computer. I asked how what do you know about my computer? He called me a stuck up [***]. HAHHAHAH I really laid in oh him after that. It was fun, I hope he calls again.
This is a SCAM!!! Do not talk to these guys. They say they are calling you because "you have downloaded 'polymorphic files' that are not detectable by normal anti-virus and will crash the computer." I know this is not the case, because I know exactly what I have downloaded and when. I asked the guy what files I downloaded, and he says "Well if you will allow me to take control of your computer I can help you find them." When I asked where he is calling from, he replied "Microsoft Windows Service Center" in London...and when I asked for a phone# to dial him back at in 5 minutes, he said he would call me back in 10. When I told him that won't be necessary and that this sounds pretty shady, he hung up on me.
I got a 996 call too. Didn't pick up; no msg. Reverse look up, and these comments, helped determine it would have been a scam call. Thanks everyone
I didn't recognize the caller ID number, so I didn't accept the call. Here's a suggestion: If you choose to let them waste your time, ask them if they would like to buy some spam. Then describe all the different ingredients that are found in spam. Finally, offer to ship them a free can of spam, but inform them that you need to know their bank account number, how many termites they can eat in 7 minutes, and the exact number of hairs on each of the goats wandering around in their backyard.
