got this call this AM caller ID said it was Perry from Washington DC I answered , some foreigner said I was randomly selected to receive a 9000 grant. I asked him to repeat where he was calling from and his accent was so thick I could not understand . when he said again I was randomly selected I just told him "Yeah Right" and hung up and blocked that number from my phone
We just got 2 calls very much like the ones described below. In my case, the caller was a male with a thick, possibly-Indian, accent who introduced himself as "John Smith from (mumble mumble) the U.S. Government." His call hit on so many stereotypes that I started chuckling that he had selected as his fake name the uber-common John Smith. I asked him to repeat himself. He did, then added that I had been selected to receive a $9,000 grant. "So, how would you like to receive your money? To your checking account, savings account, or by a debit card?" I responded that this sounds to good to be true and he'd have to be able to provide me identifying info. I think he had hung up before I finished my sentence. 10 minutes later our phone rung again from the same number. This time my wife answered, but it was a female caller- also with a possibly-Indian accent- making the same pitch about a grant. My wife started to go off on her. The caller hung up.
I took a call from 202-210-0054. She said she was calling from the Federal Government, Grants Department and I am eligible for $9,000 grant. She explained all about it, then said she needed my account information. I replied, first, I don't fall for these scams and 2nd I am on the do not call list. That was followed by about 2 minutes of obscene words from her in a very thick accent....mostly F this and F that because I'm a piece of !@##$%&&. Well, you get the idea. I finally hung up.
From the looks of it I was "offered" the better deal. Federal Grant for a million dollars. WOW. Just how stupid can one be. I just said no thank you and hung up. Be different if I was applying for grants which I am not and shouldn't the federal goverenment know my name if they are calling me ?? Waste of time.
Got the same call. Knew it was not more than a joke when the man talked GOVERNMENT and 9000 dollars together. Asked him several times what depart he was, then was disconnected. Wonder why this thing can keep going without being checked.
The guy on the phone told me he was calling from North Carolina (though my caller ID said DC), and introduced himself as "Robin Hood." I decided that was the right time to hang up.
Just received a phone call from this number. Man, with thick, heavy, accent (sounded East Indian) told me I had won a $9000 grant and did I want him to tell me about it. I said no because I knew the call was a scam and please take me of off their calling list. He responded that if I did not want to know about the $9000 he had for me and wanted my name off the listed "well then F**k you" then hung up on me. Where do they get our names from? I am so disgusted with these callers. Everyone is out to do financial harm to someone else.

Received call from 202-210-0054. Heavy accented called (sounded Asian) tried convincing me that I'd received a grant from the United States Government of $9K. All I had to do was give him my method of payment so they could 'wire' my funds within 45 min of completing the call. When I asked what his country of origin was, he said New York, Washington DC New York. I was laughing and told him he was a scammer and that I'm reporting him to the FCC and he just started repeating his script. I hung up.
