phone call from a man named "william" who had a heavy indian accent. Purporting to be from amazon security, asking if a purchase was made on my account.
I received a voicemail about activity on my account. They had The last 4 digits of a Cc # I once used years ago and they also emailed me. I called amazon directly and they advised me that it was Not them and that I shouldn’t open any email or click link. This is definitely hackers. They said they are not aware of any security breech. Also - it was a heavy accent who called me.I am wondering if they sid have a security breech but they either don’t know about it or they don’t want to tell people during this busy shopping season.
They have been calling me non stop every day this week and they said they are calling from Amazon. I have purchased one item from Amazon months ago and nothing else. This month, they charged my mastercard $1000 after I answered their call. They knew the last 4 digits of my card so i had it cancelled. Do not answer or return their call. BEWARE!!!
It may not be Amazon but it is a rep for them. WIth out their call today, I would not have known my CC had been tried to be used for an Amazon purchase of Camera Equipment. I called my CC company immediately and was able to stop the purchase. Whomever had my info had also tried to make a purchase on another website today as well and that was also stopped. Even though this call may not come from Amazon, it tipped me off to unwanted activity on my card.
Hay que est?s bien chao coraz?n Alejandro como que pasa. Si no te lleg? para las las de la-y-as?(?) estar? en la atenci?n a llevar a M?xico ya.Above is transcript of voicemail received
This is a scam claiming to be amazon customer service. Do not provide them with any information. Amazon does not need you to provide your credit card info and billing address over the phone.
Was flagged by my credit card for a "card not present" order it always does, except this time I didn't make the order. It was listed as "Amazon.com". Except I had just purchased from amazon the week before and the display was completely different. I had them cancel the card promptly and within a few hours I began receiving calls from this number. They called 8 times without leaving a voicemail, which I took to mean "don't answer". Then on call 9 I get a voicemail from a man with a middle eastern accent saying "Hi my name is Sam and I am calling for amazon to verify your credit card for a purchase on Amazon today. Call back at 18772432913 and refer to ### transaction number."
