So I got two calls back to back. I didn't answer. I have some big Amazon orders coming up so I got worried. I called it back and the recording was Amazon. A woman answered and said she was with Amazon. I told her about the calls and she said "unless I had a problem with an order I could disregard them".I read all these comments and still wasn't sure. I called back. They were very friendly and never asked for private info. I checked my order with my email address. Everything was fine. This is Amazon. But she also assured me they would email if there were problems. It should be added, I changed some info on my order last night and it's a big order. I bet they were just verifying. Not only do I not think this is a scam, I think it's a safety dept. within Amazon. That's why the average employee does know why they called.
I opened an Amazon account yesterday and ordered a product. When I opened my account, I did NOT use my cell phone for Amazon but another number. No way in Hell do I answer calls that are not in my personal directory and especially from area codes a thousand miles away. And if I received a call at home from someone suggesting they work for Amazon, I’d hang up on them and block them.I’m a former licensed private investigator and Amazon needs to come up with a better and more secure way to contact me, rather than through a cell phone number I NEVER gave them.I might just go back to buying products from local retailers rather than use Shamazon (I mean “Amazon”)
Caller quotes the price of an item recently purchased on Amazon, and then asks leading questions about credit card. I did not confirm purchase. Instead, I called Amazon directly from the help number on their website. Amazon says it does not make such "verification" calls. Communication with the customer, when necessary, is made through website, then email, then a call you place to them. This call is a phishing scam, angling for info about your identity.
Received voice mail from this # & then looked here before listening. They called to verify some info regarding a large purchase I made yesterday on amazon.com. They said they will call back soon. Seems legit, but will have to wait to see what info they are trying to verify before I can know for sure.
Robert Martin wanted $399.99 and said if I dont pay my firewall would be no good and I was hacked. Im an old man and no nothing about computers and my wife got so upset she had a heart attack over this and now they keep going after my amazon account that I did change the password and changed email password and cancelled credit cards, I feel so foolish and dumb and cant believe how dumbI am but im 84 and wife is 87 and I called them at this number and threatened them which is dumb and pointless and probably illegal but what else did they steal from me?
This is NOT Amazon. You people are gullible. Lol. It's a scam. I don't even have an Amazon account. And they wouldn't call about an order on a Sunday evening, anyway. Smdh
So I received a follow up call/voicemail from an unusual # & I assume it was overseas. They had information about my purchase yesterday & they were verifying it was legitimate to give me a chance to cancel the order in case it wasn't. The call back # they left in that voice mail was to Amazon customer service. So I called that # & they didn't really know that I had been called, but they said it wasn't unusual for there to be a call like this for a high $ purchase. I gave them to OK for my order & the lady at Amazon said she'd let the proper people know that I called to verify & that my order would be completed shortly.I understand other people think this has been a sham, but in my experience this was 100% legit & I even am glad they did this. Even though my credit card wouldn't have held me liable for a fraudulent purchase, doing this saves Amazon & others time & $ by not even completing a fraudulent order.
Same as most here. Foreign accented man asking me to verify my Amazon order. Had my name, shipping number, and last two digits of my cc. Contacted Amazon, to talk to another foreign accented lady. From what I understood, there's a 12 hour wait time on all purchases and that I wasn't called from Amazon. Don't give this number any information.
I received two calls from this # and the first two times, I didn't pick up because I never pick up unknown calls. So I Googled it & found this site. I had placed a large order on Amazon the day before so to find out it might be Amazon calling wasn't that big of a surprise. However, I decided to call Amazon customer service first to confirm & the woman I spoke with said my order was "pending verification" because they wanted to make sure it wasn't a fraudulent purchase PLUS my shipping address was different from my billing. Lo and behold, five minutes after I had called, the 206 # called back. This time, I picked up & they basically just wanted to verify the shipping address & that I was the one who put the order through. My advice: if you're not sure, call Amazon first.
