DO NOT ANSWER CALLS FROM, OR GIVE ANY INFO TO, THIS NUMBER - they are scammers who know that most of the people they call know very little about computers and they're betting that because of this, you'll be easy prey. Microsoft can't see your computer or its errors and doesn't do reverse tech support. (Use your common sense and think it over - do you believe MS monitors - or could monitor - every computer [millions of then] and that MS would pay tech support people to call everyone having problems with their software? That would be a violation of your privacy, be utterly impractical and would bankrupt MS.) If you have contacted MS (or any other software/computer company) with an issue, obtain and keep track of the ticket number/issue number/tracking number. Make sure any contact seemingly coming from MS (or any other software/computer company) includes THEM providing/referencing that ticket/issue/tracking number. Do not have any further communication with them until THEY can provide the number - it's your only way of protecting yourself and your only way of knowing they're legitimate.
We are getting calls from this number. We don't answer any number we don't know. Apparently the computer virus scammers are still at it
They called and asked if my daughter was me (using my maiden name). When she said "No," they hung up on her. Like the others, thick Indian accent. They hung up before they got into the Microsoft spiel.
Dude named "Kevin" with a heavy Indian accent. Yeah, right. Dear "Kevin" said he was from Microsoft and was worried that my computer had downloaded a virus without my knowledge. You know, 'cause I was born yesterday. Well, I kind of stopped listening when I heard "Kevin" come out of his mouth in that accent. I told him I knew the call was bogus and he got uppity. I told him never to call me again and hung up on him while he was attempting a nasty comeback. Oh, "Kevin", you'll never hack any computers with that attitude! ;-)
A man with a heavy Indian accent and a lack of English just called. (5:20 pm)Me: Hello? Caller: Hello, I am Victor. I am looking for my love.Me: Sir, you must have the wrong number.Caller: No, no, please sir-er.. ma'am. I am looking for my love. Then they called back a moment later from private.
Kevin has recently become a very popular name in Mumbai. Apparently many indians are now naming their kids after other great and heralded boiler room workers. There's Steve, David, Kyle, Crystal, John, and a few more such names. I hate the little Basturds...
just got call from heavy indian accent guy. he tried to walk me through the computer process but he didn't realize I was google-ing what he wanted me to type in the computer. he then asked me what I saw and I told him what came up on google and he laughed and hung up. kinda funny actually but it could've went bad real quick if I did it.
I just got a PHONE CALL FROM 288 – 918 – 6555. I searched the area code. it is from Illinois. When I answered the phone I had to say “hello” 2x’s. It sounded like the person was surprised I answered my phone. They addressed me by my last name. I was told they are from Microsoft windows. They did not give a name or id number to introduce themselves professionally. Their voice sound english but as if it was being disguised through a computer (maybe a device that translates) I was told my computer was getting a lot of error messages and he was going to tell me what I can do. I cut him off from talking. I knew this was nonsense. My computer is brand spanking new with the latest virus protection. I also paid into a protection plan with Geek Squad. I was not going to fall into trap. I immediately told them if I have a problem with my computer I would take it to the store so they can fix it and hung up. I had my phone conversation on speaker phone. My son son heard the conversation and said it sounded like a scam. In the past I also got a phone call by an Indian telling me to go to team viewer com and found out it was a scam/hacker.Please I advise you to personally take your computer to a local store to get it fixed never trust a random phone call !!
Tricky phone number that I cannot add to my blocked caller list because it says "invalid number" when I try.Sneaky buggers.
