this is a legitimate number for the fraud department. verified it with customer service. my card wasn't used for a long time, and they called to verify recent charges (fortunately, they were real and not fraudulent).
Call the number on the back of your card. My father got a message from this number a few days a ago and he called the number on the back of his card and found that someone down in florida bought gas and attempted to buy groceries. Yeah, we live nowhere near florida. Bank of America does care and they are resolving the issue.
had received a couple calls from this # and decided to google. it is the BOA fraud department. THey were calling because I recently (last night) used this card to make 2 purchases, I haven't used the card in a very long time so they were questioning that. I'm glad they are so vigilant...
Got the call this morning. They didn't leave the message. Everyone says it's legit from BoA, so I simply called their customer service number on the back of the card. Two charges were made (yesterday and today), and they thought they were funny. Both were legit charges. The same thing happened with a different account at a different bank. I had two online purchases they thought were suspicious, so they stopped them until they contacted me. Again, both of those were legit, so they released the funds.I'm guessing that the person on the other end who couldn't speak English is probably working for BoA because of outsourcing. That, or they mysteriously only staff their call centers with people of Indian or Pakistani origin. But odd how they would steal my card number, run up plenty of suspicious charges (which were all legitimate), and then call me to get my credit card number which they already stole. Why call to get a number that was already stolen in the first place? As for how funny it was that the call came on MLK day, when banks are closed that day - I'm pretty sure just about every bank is closed on Sunday, yet when I called the customer service number, I spoke to a person. Could it be that, in this Internet age, banks hire people to man customer service numbers and other phones on - gasp - a Sunday or a holiday? Then again, what do I know? Since I don't agree with Mila 100%, I must be a scam artist who is getting all sorts of kickbacks. Bottom line, if you don't want to give the info to the number that called, then don't. But at least contact the customer service number on the back of the card - odds are that something could potentially be wrong with the account.
i recently experience the online work from home thing after reading CNN news on Kelly Richard (Article name: "Work At Home Mom Makes $6,397/Month Part-Time") DONT do it even though it looks very convincing. After i signed up, a lot of weird calls calling me. this is one of the number too... =( report # 302-731-1166
This number is definitely legitimate, it's part of their Fraud Protection Services Center. I made some large purchases for textbooks and a backpack on my new Student Visa Card and almost immediately they called me and were inquiring as to why these purchases were made. I was surprised but also thankful that Bank of America had my best interests at heart. I'm a college kid and definitely DO NOT need someone racking up huge bills on my credit card (unless it's me, hehe)! *I would recommend calling the '1-800' number on the back of your card. Just explain that you received a phone call from a '302' number from the Fraud Center and they will go over the charges with you.
Had a missed call from this number, tried to call it back but got a busy tone. Googled it and got this post. I immediately check my BOA account online and it said a fraud alert had been posted on my account, I called the number provided on the website and found out they had put an alert on my card because someone out of state had tried to use it. I had just check my account online yesterday. They immediately canceled the card and issued me a new number. I suggest you do not ignore this call. Thank you BOA.
Had this number on my caller id and looked this up. Called customer service number on back of my card. It was them as I'd made a large purchase on my card that just came in and normally I don't do this. I oked it and it's good to go. Actually I'm glad they are watching the accounts.
I just got a call from the same number as everyone else and no message was left behind. I decided to call the number on the back of my debit card just to double check for any suspicious activity on my account. Lady from BOA on the phone said everything was fine and found nothing. I'm glad that I called BOA just in case since others seem to have found fraud on their accounts. Never pick up an unknown number. Let it go to VM.
I was on the phone with BoA when this call came through on my cell... the representative I was on the phone with (by calling the number on the back of the card) could not verify the phone number at all. I wouldn't tell them [***].
