Legitimate BofA fraud service. You don't have to give your SSN. Just give your name and the phone number you are calling from (or the one they called). They'll ask you about a specific charge on your credit card and you just tell them that it was you who made the charge (or otherwise).
This number showed up on my caller ID so I Googled it and came to this website. I did as suggested and called the customer service number on the card. It was a legit call from their fraud department. I had just made an online purchase the night before and, since I hadn't used the card in quite a while, they were checking to see if it was a legitimate charge. I assured them that it was and everything is fine. I recently had my Discover card stolen and wasn't even aware of it until their fraud dept. contacted me. I'm glad these people keep tabs on our accounts for unusual activity. With all the internet scams and identity theft you can't be too careful.
I received several hangup calls from this unknown number and after reading the messages posted here, I called the toll free number on the back of my B o A card and sure enough there were bogus charges so my card is cancelled.
I appreciate the above comments - I received a call that I was suspicious about. and following suggestions on the above comments, I called the Customer Service number on the back of my credit card. The call and number were real, they had identified and blocked a fraud charge against my account. BofA is sending me a new card. Thanks for your helpful comments.
I found this number on this website and like someone else, I called the BANK of America customer service number on the back of my card. This was indeed a call from BoA fraud services (I figured as much since it was just after I made a purchase from a place I don't normally shop at).
Called the number on back of credit card and found out about several fraudulent charges, BOA declined/removed these charges, unknown if I will be charged $50 or not but it's alot better than the $1000+ charged to my card.
I called the number on the back of my credit card--turns out there was a fraudulent charge on my account from cyprus and they are now sending me a new card. What fun.
If i don't have BoA why would they be calling me from this number? I agree that it is potentially a fraud, seeing as I have never opened or tried to open an account with this company. I don't understand why i would get a call from them...
