Authentic automated call from Bank of America Fraud Services. I closed my credit card account yesterday due to fraudulent charge attempts. Further fraudulent attempts today caused the follow up call from Bank of America. They wanted to verify it wasn't an authorized cardholder still trying to use the closed account.
The phone number is legit. I called the number on the back of my BoA card and verified that they did try to contact me.
It was from bank of america, fraud division they wanted to verify some charges. It was fraudulent charges done online. The customer service rep asked about each charge and credited for the ones I did not recognize. They issued me a new card with a new number.
I called BofA and got forwarded to the Fraud Division. I bought $10 worth of gas in San Francisco, then filled up at my destination in Alameda, knowing that it costs less there. I was still washing my windows when I got the phone call. I called the number on my card after reading the first posts of this board. The lady said they called because of the multiple gas purchases in one day. I guess it's a sign of a stolen card. When you call back they don't just say "Bank of America" because they also manage smaller regional banks that aren't large enough to have their own credit departments. So yes it is a legit number, but call BofA's customer service number if you need to know why they called.
IT IS LEGITIMATE !!! I got the call from 1-302-731-1166. I didn't answer because it was so early that it woke me up. When I went to check the number on the internet I found an email from Bank of America. When I went to check my account online I found the fraud alert. I called the telephone number on the website. Indeed, someone was fraudulently using my account.Don't give out info on the incoming telephone call but do call your credit card company on the number on the back of your card.
You are both very wrong and clearly have some try of grudge against BoA or are an unhappy customer. This number is used by their automatic fraud protection system. It’s a computer calling you to inform you about possible fraud activity. You will also receive at least one e-mail when receiving calls from this number. The reason this number is not listed and is not the same as the 1800 # on the back of the card is they don’t want you calling it back because it is just for the automated system. Almost every large company uses this process so stop telling people this is a FRAUD when it’s not. This site is here to inform people about the identity of a number not to spew your views or issues with said company.
