Received call from this number tonight. Googled the number and found that numerous BOA card holders had also received call from same number. Called BOA at number on back of card. Talked to Fraudulent Department. This is not a BOA number and they are aware of it. So THIEF...BITE ME!!!
oh! I be lost my money.thank ! I have very help.302-731-1166 IS AN INVALID BoA NUMBER. DON'T CALL
If this number calls you, although it looks very sketchy, it is legit. It is Bank of America letting you know your card account has been frozen. You should check any BoA accounts you have and call the number on the back of your card. They will have you verify charges made to your BoA card and if you did not make those charges your card will be canceled and an investigation by BoA will follow. (If you ignore it then next time you go to use your card you won't be able to!)

This is the legit B of A fraud dept. but, of course, like everyone else, I did not answer the call but instead pulled out my CC and called the number on the back then asked them to transfer me to the fraud dept. I had recently purchased an online gaming subscription and brand new computer for my son. this was not normal activity for me, so B of A was calling to make sure that I did indeed make these transactions, which I did. I confirmed, they cleared all the flags and that was it. it's always best to err on the side of caution. So this is not a scam number, but I would advise folks to call the number on the back of your card and ask to transfer to the fraud dept. Then just tell them you've believe they had been trying to contact you. After they verify you are who you say you are, they will then tell you which transactions are in question. I would guess the fraud dept calls out on a different number than how they route your call in to the department when you call the 800 number.
LEGIT: This is from Bank of America FraudProtection in regards to irregular activity on your credit card. It's totally legit, but if you get a call from them then it means either 1) you made too many/expensive purchases in one day 2) someone is using your credit card to buy stuff. In my case it was an automated call asking me to verify recent purchases.
The other day I got a call from 302-731-1166 and I thought it was just another SPAM call. But I decided to answer the call anyway. When I picked up the phone they identified themselves as BOA and asked me if I had made a charge on my Visa Card. I said no and they also asked for my zip code. Thats when I hung up. I decided to call Bank of America myself on their 800 on my visa credit card and they confirmed a charge of $18 had ben made that morning. I was switched to the Fraud Department of VISA and they cancelled my card and saw the call had been made by someone in Singapore. Visa will be sending me a new Credit Card in a few days. VISA did not have a phone number to track who ever was making these bogus charges so I gave them the phone number which I had written down from my caller ID. In my opinion this is one heck of a Scam dont be taken in and dont give out personal Information!
I received two calls from this number today. Picked up the the second time. Automated fraud alert from Bank of America. I hung up and called B of A credit card customer service. The call was LEGITIMATE.
I got a call this AM and called BofA about it. They made a call and verified it as a CONFIRMED NUMBER OF THE BANK OF AMERICA "FRAUD DIVISION". Personally, this has made me feel much more secure about my accounts with B of A.
Thanks to google I found this post. My card got flagged and they wanted to talk to me. I called back the number the thing I didn't like is they answered the phone generically "Card services can I have you full credit card number" Not really a good intro. I explained that I was returning a missed call and they stopped asking for my card number instead they had me verify my account with other less vulnerable yet secure info and the rest of the call went ok. Just use the 800 number on the card it is free.
