Yay..I'm always thinking of a way to get rid of them..nothing works.. Said I didn't own a computer and they just kept talking.. UGH
Got a call early this morning... 8:19 a.m., my caller ID read "Ohio Call". Of course, NO message was left on my voice mail. I knew it was a con artist since I don't live or know anyone in Ohio. I wish I could stop all these thieves from calling me night and day!
Received call at 7:50 AM while I was in the shower so I did not answer. The ID was Akron, OH. Since I know no one from Akron, I knew it was a scam. I wish they would at least wait until people are out of bed and dressed before they start trying to take our money. I wanted to see if others had received this call this early, and they have. I received another call from another scammer at 8:30 AM this morning also. They must be out in full force after the holidays. Should not be allowed to happen, but I know there is nothing that can be done. Just stay wise and do not answer calls from anyone we do not know. If it is important, they will leave a message.
SCAM - Pretending to to be Microsoft, errors and viruses on your computer, etc. etc.The hilarious part - their own coworkers blow their cover. One caller told me they are calling from South Carolina, then she transferred me to her supervisor who said they are calling from China. When I said that his coworker said they are in South Carolina he then stuttered and said, "Oh, yeah, I mean South Carolina, not China."
I messed with the guy for a few minutes and then told him to go f himself and i hung up. He called me repeatedly for several minutes before he figured out I wasn't going to answer.
Though this is a forum that seems to have heard from "Microsoft" or some other computer related company, I had someone call me and say they are from Quicken Loans. Internet search brought me to this site and one other. I contacted my local FBI field office, who in turn directed me to FTC, not the FCC as has been previously stated. The FCC is not the investigative party to federal crimes. All office representatives from both agencies were easy to work with and took all of my information. If we ALL give the information to the CORRECT agencies, maybe we can help stop the scammers...and if not stop them, at least slow them down!
Just got a call from this number. A guy who said I needed to turn my computer on since he found a virus. Definitely a scammer. I said that I did not own a computer at home and only had a computer at work. He hung up immediately.I am originally from India and am an American citizen now........am so tired of how these lazy scoundrels are trying to alarm and cheat people. Makes all Indians look sleazy!!! Imagine getting a call from India saying I owe them taxes and my computer is corrupt.Beware seniors....don't be fooled.
