Male caller with accent said he was calling about my computer problem. I told him I was tracking his number, and that I built my computer, and that there is NO problem. With noise in the background, he quickly hung up. Too bad the DO NOT CALL is ineffective, and that the FCC is a joke when handling these calls.
Got the same call about my computer. I told her she was perpetrating a fraud and she hung up.
Im an IT guy with many computers, and I fix computers daily. I knew this was a scam immediately. tried to keep him on the hook to get real info, ended up with him using foul language.
The Do Not Call Registry is not a call blocker. Legitimate businesses will not call you when they see you are on the list, which does cut down on the number of unwanted calls you receive. Scammers, the majority of whom call from outside the United States using spoofed numbers, do not give a flying f*** about the Do Not Call list. And since they are located abroad they are almost impossible to track down and prosecute.
