some dirtball that doesn't pay their bills had the same number as you.cell phone companies reuse numbers after a certain time so don't be surprised if you get calls from other companies looking for them as well if they didn't pay Macy's then they didn't pay others as well.
I just returned a call and this sounded like a scam.I am notifying Macy's about this. The person on the phone said that he does not have me in the systems. Before that he asked all the personal info. He said this is FDM??? This sound like they are trying to get your money.
Received 3 calls in 2 days. I work and could not answer during my business hours. They called at 8:03 pm and actually left a message. It was a woman who said "This is "Macys", please call us at 1-800-947-6229. This is regarding an important business matter." I called the 800 number and they were closed. I called the 513 number back and it prompted me for my acct# and last 4 digits of my SSN#. Yeah right! I pushed 000000 and 00000 and I was transferred to someone who was called herself "Ms. Wanda" or something. I said "I have been receiving repeat calls from this number." She asked if I had a Macys or Bloomingdales card. Reluctantly, I said yes. She said "Your past due" (which I am not and never have been.) And I said no I was not. She then said (very unprofessionally) "Waz ur account number?" I said it was a mistake and that I would verify it online. Then, she said "Do dat den" and hung up. I am going to call Macys because this could perhaps be a breach in their security. Obviously someone knows I have a Macy's card and they know my cell #. Macys needs to either investigate or have some explaining to do!
This was a legit call for me. It was from the collection company that Macy's uses to collect outstanding balances owed on your Macy's/Bloomingdale/Pier 1 account. While I was on the phone, I checked my account on line and sure enough, I had an outstanding balance on my Macy's STORE account. I always new I had a Macy's VISA account but not a STORE account, the store acct. balance does not automatically show up online unless you manually type in your STORE acct number and add it. I spoke to a woman who was very nice and I made a payment. Immediately after the phone call, I called the number on the back of my Macy's VISA card and had the customer service woman check my accounts and she did show my account as delinquent and she also saw the payment I had just made over the phone with the collection company and she waived my $30 late fee! I am thankful that I received this call otherwise I would not have known. If you receive a call from this number, first check your Macy's, Bloomingdales, or Pier 1 accounts and call customer services to verify your balances. If you do not have an account with any of the aforementioned companies then perhaps, there was a person with your number before you or someone lied and put your number down on their Visa application. Either way, this is not a scam. It is legit for those that do have delinquent balances on their account.
