I called Macy's Credit and they said that YES, they have contracted a 3rd party collection agency out of INDIA, and the number appears as either this one, or another with a Florida ara code. They had Indian accents and Macy's said if you do not pat your bill by the DAY it is due, even if you are on DAY past the due date (in the 15 day grace period) they will start calling you, and if you have eVER called Macy's from your cell or given the REAL Macy's your cell, well, now it seems they did something really bad and Mavy's is owned by another company - and that company is trying to solicit old accounts and they are really aggressive because their call center reps in the US get paid part of the setllement as a bonus! Macys customers BEWARE, because if they have your SS number, they have your phone number, and they WILL call you even if you have only ever been late on any macy's or some other big depoartment store (name?) bill, even a dasy late, even from ten years ago that you paid off, these people are fetching the old records and hunting down innocent people and in that respect it IS a scam, but somehow it is legal in many states. In many states it is illegal. I wonder if President Obama gets such calls? I bet that wold put an end to these operations!
Calls coming in on my cell phone on a Sunday night while at church services. I am going to try to find a goverment agency who might can help stopping Macy's from calling a cell number.
Have received several calls from 513-754-9822 and they identified themselves as Macy's. My account is current and the last time I heard from them (last month) they wanted a payment over the phone...very insistent that I give them info so payment could be made direct from my checking account - told them no way. I would go to the store to pay it (which I did). Now they are calling me again 2 weeks later about another payment. FYI - An earlier note in this column said the number is listed as a residential landline in Cincinnati, OH area....beware.
I'd been receiving robocalls from this number, asking me to call 1-800-511-3207. Some research led me to believe it was Macy's but I couldn't be sure since no info was ever given on the message. I sent in do-not-call and FCC complaints and hoped it would stop. Finally I got a robocall from 513-754-9822 and that pegged it to Mason, OH which is the site of Macy's customer service. I went onto Macy's site and used the number in their "Contact Us" selection. I spoke with a lady there who contacted their collections department and determined that yes, there was indeed an outstanding claim on someone who wasn't me but had simply used my phone number. They removed the number. So, in conclusion... this was NOT a scam... or rather, it was, but the scam was someone giving Macy's a fake phone number. If you're getting calls, call Macy's directly (don't use the numbers they give, no need). One annoyance... the system will ask for a social... stupid. Just ignore it. I hit "0" and "pound" over and over before it finally stopped asking and just put me through.
ATTENTION: Macy's credit cards are designed to get you to pay late charges!!!!!!!!Apparently, when you have ONE Macy's credit card, you actually have two accounts (which they don't tell you about!). One for when you make purchases at Macy's and another for when you use the card at any location BESIDES Macy's. Hmmmm, where do most people use Macy's cards?????? If you set up a Bill Pay with your bank and use the number on your credit card as your account number, then when you make a payment, it goes to your VISA account, not your MACY'S account. Then, if you used your Macy's card at MACY'S, your payment goes to the wrong account and you end up with multiple phone calls per day and late charges. WHAT A SCAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!I'm glad I found this website, it prompted me to check my account which is when I discovered what they had done to me. Of course, when I called, they "apologized for the misunderstanding" and credited my account back the late fee. Bunch of scamming [***]!
