Yup, said someone used us as a reference and they needed to speak to me. When I called them back I asked what kind of company they were. They said it was for someone that applied for a student loan. OK so maybe someone used me for a reference?? I asked who, they said the name and they IMMEDIATLY asked for a current phone number....that's not the first thing they would ask if it was a legit student loan app inquiry. He must be behind in payments....."gee, he moved to somewhere warm...maybe South America"
This number called me on my cell just a minute ago and i didnt recognize it so I (messing around on the computer) googled it..put me into this website. It was obviously out of state for me (im in NC) and I have no current buisness outside of NC so I didnt answer. There was a voice mail left but nothing could be heard but static
I got a call like this, said it was AES, they said they were calling about my student loan payment being late, and it was. They asked for birthdate to verify, they verified my address. I said I forgot about it because for whatever reason, she said you can pay it over the phone, do you have your routing number and check info, I said No; Didn't want to give. They actually went through a spiel for some type of privacy or something statement. They knew amount due for loans that I hadn't paid, asked where I worked and if I was having financial problems. It was weird...I'm going to call AES I think to check with number.
Got a call from this number today, they asked for birthday, confirmed my mailing address (by reading it to me), asked for what school i attended, and than confirmed my email address by reading git to me first. I gave them the info, and confirmed those addresses. Didn't dawn upon me until after the call was over it might be bogus. I called AES and they confirmed they do call to update this info, and said "That very well could be one of our numbers"... wasn't the most convincing confirmation, but seems legit.
They call for personal info over the phone, I won't pick up the line because they decided not to consolidate my loans and then consolidated only one loan at a higher rate and price than I was already paying. I never wanted them to consolidate any of my loans after they gave me a rejection notice, I'm wondering if it's some sort of scam at this point. Next thing they'll want to know is what's my social security number and by the way whats my bank number and pin.
Called this number back after repeated missed calls came up on my Caller ID. I waited for twenty seconds or so for the call to connect, but no luck, just silence. If AES really would like to speak with those of us who have received calls, they should start leaving voicemail messages.
I just started receiving the calls from this number. I do not answer calls if your name and number are not stored in my phone. they will not leave a message. Until they do it is not that important.
I've been wondering about this number since they have called several times without leaving a message. Today they texted to my cell phone a number from my local area code. I have loans with AES, but you would think if it was important they would leave me a message and all the letters they send me haven't indicated anything is wrong/late etc. Weird.
