Got a call from this number, but they left no message. I checked out this thread and I do have an FIA Card Services credit card (Bank of America owns and runs FIA Card Services.) I called the number on the back of my credit card and it did come up that they had a question about a charge and just wanted me to verify it (and it was something I did charge). So if you do get a call from this number, call the number on the back of your credit card back to verify.
thought it was scam, but called Bank of America, it is their fraud dept. Our initial call was from Card Services, but we called B of A direct and confirmed it is legit
Was a call from FIA Card services. They were checking in on Fraudelent charges, the gas station double charged me last night
I received a call, a recorded message, about a card I do not have. The woman gave the 800-427-2449 number to call but the caller i.d. gave a different number - 302-458-1590 that when called is described as "currently inactive". Then I was told by the recording to call 1-800-441-7748. This number also reaches recordings about it being long distance, dial #10,etc., and then says it is a Nevada number. Why if all this is legitimate are there so many dead ends and false numbers?
Got a letter and a call for my son saying that there was "inconsistent" activity on his card. I think they are phishing. I can't imagine Bank of America sending out anything without their logo or address. They would'nt give my husband any information. My son is away at college and we can't reach him. When we do we will have him call the bank to check this out.
Received call from 1-800-427-2449. The initial recording said it was Card Services calling concerning unusual activity on my credit card and to press "1" if they were talking to me, press "2" if not. By the time I decided what to do, the call disconnected. There was a sentence or two in spanish before it disconnected which is one reason I considered that it might be legitimate as banks have a tendency to do irritating things like that.I did call FIA card services using the number on the back of my card and asked if they would call me about unusual card activity using this number. I was told they absolutely would not and that they had been receiving several calls regarding the same issue. It could possibly still have been a legitimate call on behalf of another credit card.My suspicion is that it is a scam and definitely would not provide them with any information if I receive any more calls from them. Perhaps the posts here saying the call is legitimate are honest; but they could be part of the scam too. One needs to be very careful with this, I think.
this is a legitimate call from bank of america. my wife had her card declined at a store and called me about it. 7 minutes later this number called me the caller id read card srvc only. they asked for me by name and did not ask for my card number they stated they were from the fraud department and were inquiring about an attempted charge to my card. i informed her that my wife had just called me complaining that the card was denied. they told me where the charge was attempted; which was correct they then apologized for the card being declined. their reason was that the purchase was not part of our normal spending pattern and the computer flagged it as possible fraud. i am not happy that my wife was inconvenienced; but this is a legitimate number at least for today. some scammer may try and spoof the number tomorrow.
This is definitely not Bank of America although the number given is a Bank of America number. I received a voice mail asking me to call this number -- there was suspicious activity on my credit card. They did not say that they were BoA, but they gave the BoA Fraud number. I called and had my accounts checked -- personal and business -- neither one had any activity on them or notes about any calls to me this morning. I suspect that someone is trying to get a live person on the phone in order to get private information, but if there is no answer, they will at least create anger toward Bank of America. A strange situation, but I can see no other reason for it. The call did not come from 800-427-2449, but came from 302-458-1590. I dialed that number and a recording states that it is inactive. It gives a different number to call for an assistant -- 800-441-7048. When I called that number, a recording insisted that I must enter a 5 digit extension. Of course I didn't have one and "0" only caused it to hang up on me. So my detective work was finished for now. I'm ready for their next call. I will not be nice...I'm ready with a few ... ok more than a few choice words.
