got a weird call from them asking to call me back. checked this page first. this HAS to be a fraud. don't give them any info! reading through the different comments it's pretty funny seeing the fraudsters trying to keep up the appearance of this number being legit. I've had calls from my bank about fraud that were legit and it was never like this one.

I got a call from a different number from a guy named steve.he told me to call the 1800-427-2449. I did and was transferred to the fraud department. after giving them my information, they said no matches came up and suggested that i call the number on the back of my card. I did and was again transferred to a fraud department. they asked me pertinent questions and i answered them then they disclosed that someone in Canada attempted to use my card... Canada! what's up with that?any ways i was issued a new card and my account info was updated.

We received a call from 800-427-2449 earlier in the week. I thought it was a phishing scam. The next morning, they left a message on my answering machine. I didn't know what card they were representing, so I thought, "Boy these scammers are persistent." Next, I started to get things in the mail that I didn't order. I typed the ph# into Google and found this blog. When I found the phone number referenced BOA, I called the number on the back of my BOA card. (It's a different ph#.) There were indeed some bogus charges on my account, so we are closing the account. They also asked if we had any auto-payments; we did have one, and I cancelled the account and when I couldn't remove my credit card info from my profile, I asked then to do so and told them why.

I got a letter from "Bank of America" with subject "Account number ending in: 0930" It asked I call 1.800.427.2449. I have no account with that number. I reported it to Bank of America on their secure website.

I got a letter on B/A letterhead (my husband later said it looked suspicious)too late for me though. It said it had made calls but no response hence the letter. Since I hadn't been home I didn't think about the phone call as unusual. The letter gave this phone number to call as the B/A fraud division and the letter mentioned unusual activity unlike my usual pattern of charges. I was NOT thinking about phishing or scams. The letter had my FULL B/A CREDIT CARD ACCOUNT NUMBER ON IT!! and that is what probably failed to get my red flag up. It was a legitimate number in full. I had emailed B/A on their secure email asking a question about this account about a month ago with satisfactory replies. I had NOT charged anything on any of my B/A accounts for over two months or more as I was not happy with their interest hikes and I did not have any outstanding balances on any of them so this was a concern. Again... the red flag didn't commute. I had a lengthy conversation with the "fraud specialist" who gave his name as "Jesus" and an ID representative number which now I realize was a fake. He said he needed to prove I was the correct card holder before giving me the info about the suspicious activity. I bit. Why? because I am stupid and I am used to giving info to prove who I am when calling a credit card company with a question or concern. He asked me my address, I gave. He asked me the last 4 numbers of the account I paid my bills online with, I gave. He said that didn't match the info on the account so I couldn't prove who I was. He ask me for Driver's license number, I gave..... Duhhhhh. Then he said he wasn't sure I wasn't the perpetrator since the numbers didn't match. Of course then I read him the whole thing...routing number etc....double duhhhh. Finally I gave up and said I would call B/A Tuesday and take with a supervisor. After hanging up I got online with a B/A representative and also discovered that that account wasn't online anymore...I didn't remove it.... I finally was given the REAL FRAUD NUMBER at B/A. and a specialist who hopefully can help and cancel my accounts. I had to call my bank and alert them and set up a password for the account. I will probably have my account number changed. Am not sure about the driver's license yet. Have to be overly watchful now.

Just got a call this morning and exactly same thing happened to me. I called BOA and reported those two numbers. An agent called the number for me and said it even didn't ring. So people let it go to voicemail and don't call back! Keep an eye on you account and be careful!

It's legitimate. I contacted Bank of America's Security Office. The issue in my case was that they had two different addresses for me. I got it straightened out.

I just got the same call! I called the number they said to call and they asked me for my account number (on my credit card) or my social security number. You know that is fake if they ask you for that information up front - a bank would NEVER do that!! I am about to call my bank right now but I googled the phone number first.

It is Bank of America fraud division and I was very thankful they called.

This is fraud. Don't call. You need to call BOA directly.

Scam debit collector. I say 'scam' because I don't have a credit card, loan, lease, tuition, or debit or any kind. I own my home, vehicle, and everything in them. There's not a single reason for a debit collector to be calling me.
