This is a legit number from Bank of America. They called twice today (Sunday) and on the second call, left a message about possible fraud charges on my credit card. I received my new credit card last week and activated it. I've had the account for about 7 years, but haven't used it in a couple of years. I decided to use it yesterday (Saturday) to purchase some stuff at Lowe's. Then I received the calls today. I checked here first but was apprehensive based on some people's comments. But when they left a message, I decided to call using the phone number on the credit card. Sure enough, they had my legit charge from Lowe's but also had a charge from a grocery store located in Mexico. They cancelled the card and are reversing the fraudulent charge. So if you get this phone number, call your credit card associated with Bank of America.

The number was in a letter I received. A very polished scam. They're even trying to defend on this web site. Don't be FOOLED. BofA would not do business this way. Stay away.

I also got a call from this operation. They were asking for my spouse. I took down the message, and hung up.I then called the B of A number on the back of my credit-card, to find there had been no recent activity at all.The B of A agent suspected it was fraud, and told me to contact the phone company if they keep calling.

Wwe received a call from this number, they left a message on the answering machine, but did not identify what bank or account they were calling from. My wife called the number and was told, with out giving any specific account info(since she was unsure if it was legit.)that there was activity but the account in question had been closed? Turns out after calling B.A. customer service # from the back of my C.C. that there had been recent charges on our card(fraud), but the account would be closed due to this activity, and fraud alert filed. This number is a bank of america internal number,but they have so many numbers that many CSRs do not know for sure if you give them a number if it is theirs, so always call the number on the back of your card. There are scams out there that leave a legit number but called from fraud co. ... don't bite on it!!So like LANDSHARK said , follow up and call B.of A. , there is probably a fraudulent activity associated--- we will find out later that somehow they were hacked and all of us complaining and reporting have been compromised in some way, so keep a close eye on your card charges. I was told there is a scam where there are a few small charges applied, then if this is not caught they will continue to monthly bill the account for 80-$90 / month until it is caught.

This is Bank Of America Fraud Protection. If you missed this call, call them back. It's about possible fraud charges.

I am not sure this is a number for Bank of America Fruad Protection Center. I received a call from this number and after the call, I called the number at the back of the credit card. The customer services people said this is a fraud call and not from the Bank. Be careful if you receive a call from this number.I am going to watch my credit card transactions and subscribe to credit monitoring service.

overactivity on credit card. Wants to me to give S.S.# and bank account #in order to confirm true identity.Who gives out such information on the telephone in these days of frauds and identity theft? If they are legitimate and working in my interest, it would be good to do it some other way.Too many scams to trusting people who think all the world is full of honest folk.

Recieved two calls on my cell this morning (Sunday 8:27am and 11:27am)! from 800 427 2449. Didn't answer either. What company calls at 8:27 on Sunday morning?!? After reading the posts here the number must be a scam because none of my cards or bank accounts are with Bank of America presently nor have I ever had any.Be very suspicious of this number.

Got a call from 800-427-2449 today. Called them back tonight. Then just to make sure I didn't just get scammed, I logged on to BOA and called a different number. He said the fraud dept had called me today. I also found 800-427-2449 in FAQ as the number to call for the fraud dept. So it is legit.

This is DEFINITELY a fraud prevention call. May be a service used by many cards, but it my case it was regarding my Wachovia VISA (owned by MBNA, who is owned by BofA.) Several "odd" purchases were made, they called to verify. After instructing them to shut down the card, I called the number on the back of the card to verify and confirm. In this case, they caught it early. ALWAYS call the number on the back of your card if in doubt...
