I received a call 2 days after I used my BoA card overseas. They said they were from Card Security and were asking about possible fraudulent charges on my BoA cc. It sounded like a 3rd party, so I called cust svc on back of card, of course, their system was down on Sunday night for 3 hours and they couldn't look anything up. I looked it up under the reverse look up on www.whitepages.com, no luck. After checking the "contact us" numbers on their site and not seeing a match, I did see the note on this site that it was in the FAQs on the BoA site. The only issues I have is that I got the call a full 2 days after I used it last AND they don't list the freakin number either on the "contact us". So I called the number, it is a 3rd party, but they do work for a number of different cedit card comapnies, and when I asked them about BoA specifically, they also said the system was down. So, it appears to be legit.
This call IS legit and from Bank of America's credit card fraud protection department. I have received calls from them several times when they see suspicious activity on my account. Before calling though, just to be safe, I logged onto my account online and it said the same thing...that my account had been locked due to suspicious activity and to call them ASAP.
Got a call claiming that there was fraud on my account, even though I have never had a Bank Of America account. When I called back I was put on hold for ten minutes. I did a websearch and after reading these postings I decided not to call them back.
Apparently my daughter has business with this company and does not wish to deal with it, much to my angst. BUT....these people keep calling ME. She states she did NOT give them my number, but they have it anyway and KEEP calling my home.Early on, the person on the other end of the line acknowledged they did not have MY number on file, but, since we lived next door to her, the head hunters decided to call ME. I was honest and told them I was her Mom. NOW, they say, my daughter gave them my number. I asked her if this was true and she states, "absolutely not". True, she may be a derelict with these folks (she says she has her reasons and that she is not going to respond to them), but she does not lie to me. So...these calls to me stating my daughter gave them my number is just baloney and I am MIFFED.She is now away at school and says she will eventually pay them. At this point, I am no longer going to intervene for her and just want them to stop calling my home. I even offered to pay her debt, just to make them stop calling, but they say they cannot talk to me regarding her debt service. Sooo...why are you bothering ME ??????????????
Just followed a link on this page and spoke to a representative who said she will remove my phone number from these accounts. I will now see if they will honor this promise.Good luck to all who are dealing with these folks in error.
I got a voice mail on my office phone from 8004272449. I called that number but was not convinced that it really was bofa's number so i called the no on the back of my card and authenticated that no. It is for the fraud dept. its not a scam.
I returned the called (because they called both my mobile and work number). Since I did not want to give my address and birth date, which was requested, the CSR highly encouraged me to contact the number on the back of my credit card. I asked him which credit card and using my phone number (which I provided because...well, they already had it), he was able to tell me which of my credit cards had a fraud alert. When I called BofA, I did indeed have fraudulent attempts made on my card (with Bed Bath & Beyond). Apparently, someone made a one dollar charge on this card, which I never use, and it triggered the lock-down and phone call.
