received 2 calls on 9/9/15 the 713-574-1101 is related to the # 800-483-8314. it's a Correction facility in Texas. Don't have any body there...The 800 number left a message that a collect call was placed to my cell and for me to accept it I have to enter my bank account # OR a Major credit card...HAHAHA! Crazy people...
Its not a scam... Someone was just trying to contact you or someone else from jail. Maybe they had the wrong number or maybe they were hoping you felt bad and you would accept the call...could be many reasons why they called but its not a scam
At 8:23 am, I answered a call from 713-981-0098...it was an automated message saying an inmate from a prison in Lucas, County was calling collect and to press "0" to accept the call or hang up to decline....Since I don't know anyone in prison, I hung up...then at 9:59 am 800-483-8314 calls to request that I set up an account! not sure what is going on here... but I don't like it, and will not be answering anymore of these calls!
This number is for golbal calling. If someone calls your cell phone from a jail or prison, you have to set up a prepaid acct b/c you cannot do collect calls on a cell. This is the number that you call to set up your prepaid acct. it is not a scam. Someone has been calling you from jail, if you dont want to accept the call or set up the acct then follow the options to stop them from calling you. simple as that. relax its not a scam... and just cuz you dont know someone in jail doesnt mean its a scam... maybe they are trying to get ahold of someone and they have the wrong number.
Same pattern. Calls from 713-981-0098 and then 800-483-8314 about communications from an "offender".I blocked these numbers.
I changed my phone # b/c I was getting calls from unknown persons at unknown correctional facilities. I have told literally 3 family members my new # and today I get a call from an unknown person at an unknown facility. This time it is in Tennessee. I live in Alabama! It is someone named Fran and I do not know anyone with that name.
