i don't know what this number is but i am on a do not call list this needs to stop its a private cell phone.i will contact a lawyer if it does not desist.

Whether Global Tel Link is legit or not. I have recieved 2 calls from them in 2 days on my unpublished business phone (not even my family has this number). Each call was from a different inmate and at different "jails". Both inmates names were so muffled, I could not understand their names on the voice mail.The follow-up voice mail from Global Tek link states that you recieved a phone call from a person in jail and I needed to "prepay" for them to call out.If they are a legit company, this is not the first time that I have heard of this "inmate scam". Some "jails" have pay phones unrestricted to some inmates while they are there. But without anough money, some inmates will randomly call numbers until they find someone on the outside who will pay to have this account setup (thinking this might be someone they they know). The inmates then turn around and offer to "sell" these calls to other inmates at high "prices". I have had family and friends that have worked for correctional institutions and have heard of fights breaking out over "phone privileges", including selling of them. I do not wish to be cruel but I do not have the conscious to add to inmate corruption or to encourage violence within the "system".

Have received a couple of calls from this number...both times a recorded message left regarding someone trying to call from a correctional facility and info on creating an account. It's nobody I know... they need to stop.

It is an 800 number. It does not belong to any state...

While researching this 800 number this evening, I found your reply here informational, more so than most. However, my husband & I know not a single incarcerated person, yet we received a call from this number tonight (6-22-2014) on our cell. Of course, we did not answer the call. No message was left. Neither of us have ever made a "deposit" for these type calls and never would. We have also had the same cell number for 17 years. Do you have any thoughts on how this could have happened to us?

It's an entity of offender connect though what they are doing calling everybody I have no clue
