Very rude middle eastern sounding woman. I figured it was a scam call, and requested to be removed from the call list. She said "hang up and you will get a surprise"! I asked "what kind of surprise"? She repeated "a surprise". I said "that's a bunch of crap, and take me off your calling list". She said "the number will go up her [***]". I said "yeah, try that and see what happens". Really? I normally don't get into it with calls like this but there you have it. Lost my cool. Should have let the call go to the answering machine, but was expecting a call from a vendor.
I was feeling feisty, so I took the call from Nora, who said she was from Geek Squad and that my computer had been sending out signals "for weeks" that "there was a problem." I told her I would be sending her name and information to local and federal governments for investigation and that Interpol might be interested as well. She began calling me a [***] and telling me to shut up, her Indian accent thickening with every word. I told her I wanted to speak to her supervisor, and she said she would get "him."She transferred me to Rachel, whom, I was quick to point out, was not a man. Rachel's accent thickened as she got huffy with me, accusing me of thinking that women could not be supervisor (I am both a woman and a supervisor, so I laughed heartily). When I called her out on claiming to be from Geek Squad, a company I do not use, she denied anyone told me they were affiliated with Geek Squad but rather with the "Geek Company," contracted subsidiary of Windows, and that my "Windows operating system" was telling her company there was a problem with my computer. I told her I did not have a Windows OS, and she proceeded to give me a hard time, alternately calling me rude and then trying to be sarcastic with me. I advised her to hang up on me, which she refused to do for several minutes; she kept trying to direct me to hang up on her instead, but, sadly, I was enjoying the event far more than I ever should have, so I refused. I asked her for the name of her supervisor, who allegedly is "Kansha," and then she hung up. I know none of the names anyone gave to me are real and that little, if anything, will happen to the scam artists, but I was having a bad day, so I decided to give it back in kind. It was neither mature nor compassionate of me to do so; however, it also was fun.
This is a scam, they are getting your number from the Internet from any sort of information you have filled out so they know that you have a computer. From there they use tactics to try and fish information about you or your account please do not answer this phone number
Just got a call from this number. He said that he was calling about my home computer. I told him I didn't have one. He asked if I was going to get one. I said uh-huh, nice try and he hung up.
I got a notice about this scam a week or so ago, so when he ID'd himself as the geek squad and told me my computer was in trouble I knew it was a scam, my feeling... if you are going to waste my time then i'm going to waste yours and thats more time you can't scam someone else, so I played along, worried and clueless, when I insisted he give me "my License #" he started to yell at me and wanted to know why I would ever want to write it down? he gave me 888dc and hung up on me and of course the # rings back disconnected, but the time i wasted with him hopefully saved 1 other person
Clearly a scam. Two calls today. Told caller "get me off list" or I will complain to the FTC. He said he would report me to the FTC.Filed complaint to day with FTC.Foreign accent. In today's environment, hope FTC follows up.
Eastern dialect, voices in the background. Claimed to be a rep of Geek Squad. Started to tell me to look in the bottom left of my screen. I cut him off and told him my next step was to give him My url, and a credit card number to get a repair program....Dam, he hung up! I just had to keep my wits as Geek Squad nor microsoft will call you out of the blue to fix a problem folks.
Had to say hello twice, then the guy just repeated hello back to me. I said what do you want and he called me an a@@hole and hung up.
