Received a call about 5 minutes ago and did not answer the area code displayed as 86 (0) I did not answer it.
How can we ever catch these a**hats? If you read my (ok, chatty) post from 1/6, scammers are getting so sophisticated, breaching very tight security. We were told when our company files were 'kidnapped' for a randsom, that the theives most likely entered through the use of a children's game download. My daughter knows to ok any downloads through us, so it looked legit. How can we stop this madness when we already seem to be 'following the safety measures?' It's truly infuriating & frightening to see how brazen they are.
Received a call this morning, caller ID said "China." I answered, heard talking in background for about 2 seconds then the caller disconnected.
You are right to warn your Mom, the elderly are the highest risk. If even those of us that have been around since the first 269lb. Apple or IBM word procceser & are fairly savvy, how are those not very computer literate supposed to stay safe?!?My personal rule is to simply not answer any long distance (or not) # that is unknown or unexpected. I find that most honest people will leave a msg, & the others I can find here, Thank goodness we all take time to share this info, it seems like all the IT security available has loopholes. Sad, computers & tablets bring so much to our lives. I can do without the underworld though. Happy New Year!
Guy called my cell phone and said he was from Geek Squad and my computer was infected. Lying sack of crap
Scammer called me and informed me he was calling from "tech support" and wanted to know if my computer was on. Called once last week. When I told him I knew he was a scammer, he said "bye" and hung up. This time, I said it laughingly that I knew he was a scammer and to stop calling me he responded by saying "what the [***] are you laughing at [***]? [***] you [***]!" and continued yelling profanities at me until I hung up. I normally would have cussed him out but I was in shock. Person was a male caller with an indian accent.
They totally hit you on the wrong day! Lol! Suprised they lived to call on! Hope your 2016 has improved!

Called and asked me to return call about a musical instrument that must be returned immediately. Got my name wrong as well. Scammers.

Got my name wrong, no where near close to the person they're trying to scam/contact. Call came from North Texas, left no company name, nothing. Shady asf, 888 area code is commonly used by scammers so this may not be legit.

Sent an email trying to encourage people to call Bank of America at this number. As phishing attempt go, this one was better than most. I can smell these things a mile away.
