Called saying my Google password had been hacked...which was a smart scam as it was recently in the news that this happened to a number of accounts. Said he could fix the problem. I said thanks but that that was why I have an IT department. He continued on until it became very clear it was a spammer would wanted my Google password in order to "fix" the problem....ya good idea! Just hang up or play along for the humor of finding out what the bait line will be, but do not give out any real info. A warning is they do have some limited personal info from somewhere...social media site of some kind presumably... so do not be fooled by that...it is just part of their hook.

This is a well known scam, where they try to get you to allow them access to your PC then they install ransomware on your PC remotely and tell you you have to pay them a FEE to unlock it. Pure [***], but don't bother complaining to anyone about it. They are clearly doing this from outside of the country and spoofing US phone numbers. I told him I knew he was a scammer and to go back to bed with his mother.

Wow, these guys suck. I played along, asked them who they were and why they cared that my computer was sending out suspicious messages, he said geek squad. I asked a bunch of questions and he transferred me to "his supervisor." I asked what he was selling and who he worked for and he hung up.

I just got this call but I wasn't near the cell phone so it went to vm. I just happen to have Ubuntu on VirtualBox I could have used, too.

Sounded like a foreigner. He told me he knew Windows progrm and was calling to help me with my computer.

Received a call from this number on 01-17-16. I didn't answer. I called the number back from my house phone and it had a recording saying the number is not in service.

Computer con - says they are getting error messages from your computer. HANG UP!

Why did you call back?? With over 300 previous reports, all you probably did was provide another number for them to harass.

They just called me. Wanted me to turn on my computer. I told him I can handle my own computer and then hung up while he was still arguing with me.

Since he called from Connecticut a criminals are welcome all party consent state I told him that I am recording this phone call and planning to upload it onto YouTube. They are obviously breaking the law and I don't expect any enforcement action by Obama’s fcc. The fcc is only interested in merging slime warner with Charter and other anti consumer industry. The next president needs to do some serious house cleaning at the fcc. Claimed he was from geek something. Told me not to report him because his boss will fire him. Too bad I already did!!!
